Is this a former Pelican??

I've noticed he hasn't posted here in a long time.

If it's the same guy, what happened to him??

Off the deep end?

Jeez, Steve used to be OK. Then there was that not so long, steep downhill decent...

Unfortunately, I know too much. More than I want to know...

I remember him posting here in OT and seeming like an OK guy. Then there were some rumblings about deals gone bad.

Anyone know what happened?

Yeah, I had a couple exchanges with him in OT a while back and just thought he was a bit nutty... Then in the past 6 months or so they've got a pretty serious hate on for him over at www.shoptalkforums.com. Apparently he was involved in some deals that went bad, some shifty business and some bad rebuilds. Now he's being hounded there, at thesamba and in the 914 forum here on Pelican.

Well, over at the shoptalkforums it seemed like he had created a dummy sight with a lot of copy & paste content about type 4 rebuilds etc... had even gone as far as to duplicate at least one of their proprietary designs. They call him "The Shadow".

He was a fomer employee at Pelican and he worked for "Otto" afterwards. Both ended poorly. I don't know the details of the Pelican situation, but I do know the one with Otto. It had to do with him impersonating Otto on a BBS by logging in as Otto and posting.

There were rumors of other problems as well, but I will not repeat rumors.

No, the sheep part is for real. And it's ladies' underwear, he never managed to fit in the girls'.

Wrong guy....that's Miles....

Steve is a guy that is represented by a steaming pile of horsecrap icon on the 914 list....

At one time he was posting stuff about "Code Reds" and guarding bridges when 9/11 hit....a real nutbag.

I remember the 914 incident and him impersonating Otto. That was fukced up!

I wouldn't be suprised if he was involved in the whole 917 motor mystery that Wayne helped solve.

IIRC, Didnt he challenge you or Jason to some sort of "combat"?

I thought that he was too busy guarding the borders from invading Martians...sorry wrong type of Alien???

I thought it was a little too much when he posted former Navy Seal and USC Law School Graduate Class of '79...who knows, maybe he is...

There were one or two bad things said about him even before he signed on at Pelican. A few people over on Shoptalk were complaining about a "VW Parts Club" that he was running, and evidently felt that they had not gotten what they thought they were buying.

I was never comfortable with him at Pelican. Not a biggie, since I'm not in the office, but he made me uneasy.

As for him leaving, let's just say that there were reasons, and Jason helped to point them out. That caused at least some of the bad blood between them.

Since then, there seem to (by various BBS reports) have been several of his deals that have not gone well.

He did email me once about a post I made on another BBS (an indirect reference to his and Jason's beef with each other) with some interesting invective and half-truths.

The challenge thing was pretty funny. Was more of an in-joke than anything else.

He showed up on www.Mercedesshop.com a while ago as well. He appeared to be as pompous there as he was here. But there's no law against that. Too bad things sunk so low.

BTW, what's a DTM? That's the part he alledgedly copied.
