Of course The Stones were edited during the Superbowl...

Dead men aren't supposed to -- and
a rooster isn't supposed to be referred to as a -- on ABC.

Personally, I'm glad "Mouse House" is protecting me against Mick's vile lyrics.

There was a lot more going on than that.

Come on, they did not have any business being the main attraction at halftime. Maybe 25 years ago, not now, though... I recently saw Motley Crue in concert....they should be buried too

Did you know that the "fans" that were out there with the Stones are paid to be there? Notice how more into it they were than the rest of the stadium?

Why did Mick keep repeating the same lyric during "start me up"? It was like he forgot the rest of teh words...

Gay. Since when are the Stones risque, 1968? I hate to say it, but they just aren't nearly the same. But, I do hope I'm still bouncing around like Mick when I'm 60.

I didn't think they were too bad, and I'm not even a fan, (more of a Beatles guy). You have to figure that they are doing this because they want to. Why else would any 60ish guys that are multimillionares be doing this? If I had their money at their age, I would be living on an island somewhere.

First let me say I am a Stones fan. A big Stones fan. Yes I hope I can keep up with Mick when I'm 60, hope I don't look like Kieth, who did NOT look well yesterday I might add. Mind you Keith has never been the picture of good health, but he really looked sick. Are they appropriate for Super Bowl? Hell yeah, there is no band that can work a big room like thay can, with the exception of U-2 or Pink Floyd. Mick IS the ultimate front man. Are they good compared to the wealth of current talent out there today from younger musicians? I didn't notice that there WAS any talent out there.

Did they suck? Yep sure did. The sound mix was aweful though not their fault. Song selection?? Come on Boys you couldn't come up with somethng better than the tired old "Start me up" and "Satisfaction" with the depth of repitoire that they have?
I love those guys but they are disappointing me too many times lately. First with the ticket prices on the last tour and now a piss poor performance on world TV.

Last time I saw the Stones live was the Voodoo Lounge tour around '93 and they were excellent. I saw Motley Crue in August and they were also excellent. Seeing them again in 2 wks. On the Stones' Steel Wheels tour I was working security at Three Rivers Stadium and got to watch them do a soundcheck from the pit between the stage and front row. They were AWESOME. I'd love to go see them again, but their tix here last week were running around $200.

Big Stones fan here. Really bad! Three of my least favorite Stones songs. I think it's time to pack it in boys!

I'm going to put on Exile on Main Street and forget about the whole thing.

Not true; I know several that were on the field (one guy was under the toungue that got pulled away) and none of them were compensated. The only funny thing was that the organizers were looking for people <25. I thought they didn't sound so good on tv, but the people I know that were there said they sounded great. Maybe a case of the dancing elephant, who knows.

Last time I saw the Stones I was maybe 22 or 23 and I felt like the youngest person there.

Last time I saw them was..about 1981. The Wednesday tour I think, in the Seattle Kingdome. I was about 10.
Sound sucked so bad, nothing but echoes.

Soundmen have blown more great shows...Bad soundmen should be shot.

That is the last time I saw them. Although In Living Color wasn't that good IMHO, the Stones rocked that show, and it was the last tour for Wyman.

I haven't seen them since because Wyman is gone, and tickets are so $$$$$.
I think any big band like the Stones, Eagles, Aerosmith, Mcartney, etc. should sell their tix for 20.00 instead of 200.00, I mean they already have "made it", and keeping prices high just makes them appear to be sell-outs.

The reason they charge that much is because they've blown most of their money and they can fetch that price because most of their fans are no longer starving students. For a band doing a one-time reunion (I'm thinking Diamond Dave with Van Halen or the Police playing together again), I'd pay it. But this nonsense with endless reunions, extended tours and still charging $200 is just ridiculous. Still, if they couldn't fetch that price, then they'd lower it. The Stones manage to sell out every place, every time, no matter what they charge. Everytime I go see some old band that really been around the block (VH, Rush, Yes, Stones, etc.) and they walk off stage, I always think to myself: that could be the last time they ever play together. I know a guitar player from my freshmen year in college who bailed on me at the last minute for going to see Stevie Ray Vaughn with Jeff Beck. Sure am glad I caught that show! SRV was dead shortly thereafter.

Not a big Stones fan but we enjoyed the show. Much better than last year. They still got it after all these years.

It's just the presumptuousness of the thing. Big venue (Superbowl) and big half-time act (The Stones), who every morning news show this morning said they looked like they could care less about their performance.

I'd much rather see a band who'd be hungry to be there - Radiohead, perhaps, or if you're looking for vintage, The Cure or The Pixies. Pixies live are outstanding.

But all this tired retro crap is what killed Monday Night Football for ABC. You have old ex coaches, for example like John Madden. No one cares what John Madden has to say and Al Michaels adds nothing with his whiny voice. Instead of putting up a new fresh venue, Disney moves MNF to ESPN where it will never be seen by as large a public as on ABC.

I don't know, maybe I'm bummed football season is over. In the end, like Off Ramp says, "who cares..."

Rick,

Those are also the two bands I would also pay big $$$ to see.

Diamond Dave in VH, and the Police would be incredible shows.

I saw Dave solo on the "Eat 'em and Smile" tour, and although he played some VH tunes, it just wasn't the same.
