What would you do, if you are told terminal

A friend of mine was told he has 6 months to live. What would you do if the same thing happend to you. I dont want the answers to be morbid, but more-so on the upbeat side. Where would you go, who would you see, what would you do. A lot of things pass in my mind, how abut your's.

I'd definitely start drinking and drugging again. And I don't mean that in a morbid way, either.

1st thing i would do is to get a second opinion.

besides, we're all terminal.
some of us just have more time than others.

This is difficult... I'm sorry for your friend, I'm sure this is really hard on you friends and family but I suppose it doesn't compare to what your friend is living...

Probably I'd take things to a higher level (things that I never put attention):
Wake up early and enjoy those sunrises and sunsets
Talk to the family and tell them how much you love them
Get closer to religion and find inner peace
Stop by so many places I've driven by for years.
Talk to all kind of people

As sad as it sounds, I'd accummulate enough drugs to take my life peacefully and with dignity if it's inevitable and I'm in the final stages..

I'm very sorry about your friend.

Get a second opinion! I love that one!

I'd first of all say 'f*ck'. Then I'd probably say something like '$hit' and 'd@mn'.

I've got some debt that I couldn't pay off in that time, so I'd be asking my dad if he has a good policy on me that will cover him. I don't want my family to have any burden from my passing.

I'd like to travel a little... maybe see some things in Europe.. Normandy, Germany, Switzerland, Italy... then go to Australia... Don't know how I would afford it. Then I'd try to spend time with my friends and family.

all blessings to you, your friend and his family.

For me I'd make damn sure that no one (read gov't) can take the estate I leave my children. I'd have a lawyer transfer as much as i could to my kids names before I died.

Then me and the kids would travel together, just the three of us.

He said: "I was in my early forties,
"With a lot of life before me,
"An' a moment came that stopped me on a dime.
"I spent most of the next days,
"Looking at the x-rays,
"An' talking 'bout the options an' talkin’ ‘bout sweet time."
I asked him when it sank in,
That this might really be the real end?
How’s it hit you when you get that kind of news?
Man whatcha do?

An' he said: "I went sky diving, I went rocky mountain climbing,
"I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu.
"And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,
"And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying."
An' he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,
"To live like you were dyin'."

He said "I was finally the husband,
"That most the time I wasn’t.
"An' I became a friend a friend would like to have.
"And all of a sudden goin' fishin’,
"Wasn’t such an imposition,
"And I went three times that year I lost my Dad.
"Well, I finally read the Good Book,
"And I took a good long hard look,
"At what I'd do if I could do it all again,
"And then:

"I went sky diving, I went rocky mountain climbing,
"I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu.
"And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,
"And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying."
An' he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,
"To live like you were dyin'."

Like tomorrow was a gift,
And you got eternity,
To think about what you’d do with it.
An' what did you do with it?
An' what can I do with it?
An' what would I do with it?

"Sky diving, I went rocky mountain climbing,
"I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu.
"And then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,
"And I watched Blue Eagle as it was flyin'."
An' he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,
"To live like you were dyin'."

"To live like you were dyin'."
"To live like you were dyin'."
"To live like you were dyin'."
"To live like you were dyin'."

Lyrics by Tim McGraw

My uncle, who died from cancer a few months ago, was a very funny and upbeat person. He joked about it all the time, except maybe for the last two weeks at the hospital where he got a little depressed. When he was going for his chemotherapy, he used to park his car anywhere he wanted, and said: I don`t care, I have cancer...For Christmas, he took his familly to the Carribean. He died in March. He went to work everytime he could. He left us an exmplary image of strength and courage. He basically lived life to the very end without slowing down. Remember also that miracles do happen. I know someone who was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer, and is now doing just fine, all cleared up. My thoughts are with your friend, and whatever happens is what was meant to happen.

Fly my Dad in and talk, talk, talk...

Play ball with my Brothers until my kness gave out...(then drink beer with them...)

Build as many things with my Son as possible...

Dance and sing with my Daughter as much as she would stand...

Just listen to my wife and not say a word...

Can't answer this one. I don't think anyone can really, until/unless...
Me? Hoping it's a nice sudden death. But I guess we all wish for that, don't we?

Six months ago, my Grandpa was given six months to live. he has stomach and liver cancer, I believe it is in his pancreas also, and during the last six months he was on treatment for it. Well, treatment didn't work, and he is just happy to have made it past the six months he was given.

The first thing he did, was talk to all of his kids and grandkids. My brother, sister, and I all spent at least one whole day with him, just talking. A couple years ago, him and I restored a '51 Chevy... we didn't get it entirely put together before I went to college and moved away.

Anyway, he's hoping to live through March, just relaxing and trying to make sure my Grandma will be okay without him. They have not been apart more than a few days during their entire marriage.

I won't go on and on... but, it's all just sad and definitely not something I've ever had to deal with until recently.

Wow, what a question.

First my profound sympathy for your friend.

Kind of makes some of the ongoing political arguments non-starters.

Tim McGraw's lyrics "To live like you were dying" covers it pretty well.

The question for the rest of us is of course, "Why wait"

I need to make a list. A real list.

This is my wake-up call, Thanks

Edit, I'm not riding any stinking bull.

Very sorry for your friend. All my best to him and his family. If it were me, I honestly would try to complete my dreams except I would have to work alot faster. I would definitely not be working a job because what is the point of saving money if you are not going to be around to enjoy it. I would also up the life insurance policy a little bit so whoever survives me can get have a nice stress free life and finally ask to my Porsche contingent that a drive in my honor be arranged because I don't want to drive off into the sunset in a Cadillac by myself.

make sure you accumulate more than enough. i tried to end my life last august with what i thought a pretty potent blend of drugs and alcohol only to wake up a day and a half later in an er unit. a week later i found myself back at home staring at the walls. am i glad my attempt was unsuccessful? about 1 time in 10. a few months ago, my younger brother began exhibiting symptoms of severe anxiety..runs in the family..i'd hoped he would be spared some of what i've fought for 15 years, but he's the same age i was when it began. he is what keeps me from trying again. i'm his big brother..and suddenly i'm needed. sorry for the hijack. for those of you, still able to 'live life to the fullest'..please go for it. i'm cheering for you.
