I'm a bad Moderator......

I confess, the spamming has finally gotten to me.

check out this post - there are a few more like it on various places around the BBS, but I can only edit the ones on the boards I moderate.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?postid=2434704#post2434704

I hang my head in shame.... I suggest you email the spammer and tell him what a lousy person you think I am...

nicely done
this could be the best way to handle spammers, maybe we could set up a special page with links to posts of spammers, this would keep spammed topics from getting lost AND give us a complete list of who to send massive amounts of email to

A poster (Nick) on a forum I mod had the following helpful suggestion:

"The FTC can't do anything about these ****ing *******s that spam fake rolexes, drugs, weight loss, penis enlargement and so on. They get around our MESSAGE RULES by using BS subject lines and bogus email addresses.

I've started a list of the email addresses that do this to me and I went to my MESSAGE RULES and and have all of this type of SPAM DELETED THEN FORWARDED to ALL OF THESE ADDRESSES. I'm assuming their servers will return these as undeliverable.

Every time they come back as undeliverable they will duplicate themselves and re forward thermselves to the SPAMMERS SERVERS. The forwarded replies should grow exponentially.

All they have to do to stop getting 60 million returned emails is to quit sending SPPAM BULL**** to me.

If everybody does this their servers will be overwhelmed.

I did this to one company that ripped me off and told me to respond to an email that kept returning a form response. I started it on a Friday night and bright and early Monday morning the head of the company called me and settled our problem contingent on me stopping the auto replies to their autoreplies which were aproaching 25,000."

Same here. Its with Yahoo and the "bulk" section gets over 1000 emails a week. All are deleted every few days. The valid emails that come to that address are then directed to a real email address.
