There's one by my house, and they have sales like this every now and then. The frickin checkout line stretches 3/4 of the way around the inside of the store! There's no Chinese knockoff gizmo I need bad enough that I'm willing to stand in line for an hour while some disaffected high school dropout tries to figure out how to ring it up. It would be faster to mail-order it.

A Harbor Freight just opened near me in Brick. I'm dangerous in that place!! Most of the tools are cheap stuff, but they do have some pretty good things there.

Damn you! I would have been fine had I not seen this post. I've been wanting a set of lug nut soft sockets, now I'll go and end up with a few hundred in Chinese tools. Their stuff may be cheap, but for occasional DIY use it's usually good enough.

I call their stuff my "disposable tools".

Yup, when you need a tool and its cheaper to buy it there then to rent it its a good deal.

I bought a hardwood floor stapler from them for $150 and it was worth every penny. If it broke tomarrow after 4 fulls days of use and thousands of staples sent through it I would not care.

I have a few things from there and they serve their purpose. I love their aluminum floor jacks. I use mine at least once a month and never a problem.

I know where I will be this weekend.

Is this the only store in NJ? The only one I've been to is near Hershey, PA. I go once a year when I take the family to the park for a long weekend. Sure is nice seeing all that stuff up close and personal....kinda like a toy store for the kids.

Actually, I was going to go for their detail gun at $9 but the offer recently expired.

Need Tools + No Money = Harbor Freight

Unless your tools are status symbols to you, in most cases it makes no sense to buy Snap On for $100 when you can get HF for $5. For something I will rarely use, I can think of a lot of better causes to throw my money at.

For electic and air tools I use a lot, I buy name brand. For example, I'd never use a harbor freight welder, but their welding C clamps are just fine. Their Vice-Grip knock off stuff is crap, though. I have a HF d/a sander, and it's not as nice as the National Detroit I used to have. I only paint a car every couple years or so, so it's fine. I can buy 5 HF sanders for the cost of one ND one, which is probably 20 years worth of auto body work for me.
