I will be able to pack heat soon!!!

Looks like Nebraska is going to be a CCW state soon.

100 bucks and a few hours and then I can pack heat almost anywhere I go.

Now all we have to do is get pot legalized. We could use the same mode of thinking too.... "People are already doing it so it may as well be legal"

You know, the folks who say that about CCW are defending criminals. Slice it up any way you want. Thats what it is, defending criminals.

I am not ashamed to be a gun owner which is why I would rather have an open carry law passed nation wide.

yeah so WOOT, bust a cap, all the celebration and what not.

Nice.

I received my Utah CCW permit a couple weeks ago. I'm waiting on my Florida. With these, 38 States are covered.

out of curiosity, why do you need to carry a concealed weapon?

Oh man, I thought that any states CCW permit was good in any CCW state. Because you could be anywhere when you have to bust a cap on some foo.

Florida has to go mess things up. I bet they need the $

Be carefull in assuming any states recognize another's CCW. It's not like a driver's license. States that recognize each other's CCW's do so through "reciprocity" agreements between those states. I think the NRA website has information on who honors who's.

I need to get off my butt and get my CHL.

As for why someone would need to carry a weapon? Why WOULDN'T you? It's a choice to have the ability to defend yourself on your person. That's it.

Go to www.packing.org

They have lists of what states have reciprocity with other states.

Honestly? The more people carrying with permits, the safer I feel. I'm a gun owner, but don't carry. I find it hard enough to keep track of my wallet and keys.

There is work going on to make nationwide reciprocity.

"U.S. Representative Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) recently introduced H.R. 4547—a national Right-to-Carry (RTC) reciprocity bill that would provide national reciprocity for state carry licensees. The bill would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state "

I'm all for an armed citizenry and believe we should all have the right to carry (I actually think it shouldn't have to be spelled-out in state law), but I'm not sure I can agree with your seeming "enthusiasm" about carrying a weapon.

The fact is: carrying a gun in a pain in the butt (sometimes literally, depending on what and how you carry). I have a permit and carry where it's legal for me, but don't do it with any enthusiasm. I think it's a shame that we live in a society were I feel the need to carry. If we would just stop wasting police and judicial system resources on all the "victim-less crime" (like drugs) and focus on the violent criminals, we would probably be living in a country where I would not feel a need to carry a weapon.

I feel the need to carry a weapon because I read the newspaper's crime report section and won't turn a blind eye to the facts presented there.

I live in a nice neighborhood, but every week, just blocks away from me (also in nice neighborhoods) there are robberies, assaults, sometimes rapes and even the occasional murder. My weapon certainly isn't any perfect defense against a criminal attack, but could help to give me a fighting chance to stay alive if I end up being someplace where a criminal decides he is going to victimize me or other innocent people.

In my entire life, I've never needed a gun or a seatbelt. But I'd hate to be caught without either if I actually needed one.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Why are you so bitter about this? And to compare it to legalizing pot is amazing.

You carry a pistol to protect yourself. The Police cannot and have no duty to protect you. They come afterwards to clean up the mess and look for 'evidence'. It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your family.

The greatest fallacy is that when you are robbed, car jacked, etc, just cooperate and you'll be fine. These days the criminals are shooting afterwards to eliminate the witnesses.

If someone steals my car, or some piece of my property, it is insured and I'd let it go. If someone threatens me or my family in the process of robbery, they will be answered with up to 7 SXT rounds.

I don't often think I'll need to carry concealed, so the few times I've felt that was I did it anyway - better to be judged by 12 than carried by six.

For those asking "why" - the police are a reactionary force, and it has been admitted (and ruled on) in court that the authorities are under no obligation to protect you.
