America and Americans had no enemies in Iraq prior to the US government's illegal invasion.

But the Iraqi people love us as did the Germans when we took over Berlin. It was only about 15% of the population that we really had a tough time with. Heck it would us no time to take over Mexico and Canada - we sure could use the Canadian water, mineral rites and crude. As for Mexico, maybe we could start really showing them how to make drugs and sell to China - get them hooked on the finer dust and herb du joir.

Mul. In my opinion, the indefinite detention, and subsequent mistreatment, without charge or trial of non US citizens in Guantanamo and other places, under a bogus legal construct, is doing a great deal of harm, possibly, irrepairably, to the reputation and prestige of the United States. It is seen as a massive hypocrisy.

As a citizen of the rest of the world, its entirely possible that my perspective on is different-not better or worse- to yours.

The neocons have tried floating that one a couple of times. In the occupation of Germany there were NO AMERICAN TROOP DEATHS.

This is in no way a parallel to Germany or Japan. The closest parallel is the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. (and by the way, did you notice the Taliban is growing in power again in Afghanistan? No? Faux News hasn't reported it yet, so it can't be true.)

Saddam was a state sponsor of terrorism. Saddam had a working relationship with al qaeda to develop WMD. Not hardly. What the Iraqi's do or do not do among themselves isn't of no concern for any American. All deaths post invasion are the direct responsibility of the Bush'ist administration, period.
