Printing is easy in Linux. Install CUPS (common unix printing system), open a browser, and go to http://localhost:631

You'll be prompted for your root username/password (root and whatever) and then you can add printers, etc. to your hearts content.

For documents, etc. OpenOffice does great.

Do you have documents in windows? How do you plan to use those in Linux?

There is supposed to be a plugin that allows linux to read off of NTFS file systems therefore allowing you to retrieve your stuff off of windows. I personally didn't have anything important on windows that i couldn't get off the internet again so i have not tried it.
