ring removal

I "borrowed" one of my daughters rings a few days ago and now I can't get it off.
I'd rather not cut it and I've tried soap and water, cold water and I've just got a swollen finger for my trouble.
HELP!!!!
Any ideas?

Buy the daughter a new one and thank her for your new ring.
Try some handcleaner like Go-Jo

I am Rick V's wife.
Try using an ice pack to reduce the swelling, and a lubricant of your choice.

Keep your hand in the upright position (like you're waving) for a while to let the blood drain, along with the ice and dish soap.
Good luck.

Soak the hand in water with Epsom Salts which will get the swelling down, along with ice. You might also take an Anti-inflammatory drug to reduce the swelling in the knuckle.

If it is stuck at the knuckle- try the above and good luck.
If it is stuck due to the swelling take a long thin piece of string or thread- monofilament works as well. Double it up and slowly wrap it- pretty tight- from the finger tip down- tight enough to compress the finger. As you get down to the ring, pass the two ends under the ring. Then try wiggling it off.
I have heard of this working.
Good luck. If all else fails most rings can be repaired after being cut with a ring cutter.

Thanks guys, I got it off.
And for those who suggested Hacksaws and boltcutters - I had no intention of cutting my finger off to get the ring off
