i recall seeing some drifting footage from a tuner's challenge in europe a few years back.

one team (running a 996TT) got so frustrated with the car's grip and inability to drift they replaced the 18x10 rear wheels with space saver spares - needless to say, it drifted then...

You can drift a 911 but probably not as well as some of the popular drift cars. The rear weight bias helps, but the additional traction due to the rear weight bias hurts.

Lets see....let me try this in my 82 SC.

Ok.....accelerating.....entering turn fast......lifting foot off throttle...

Thats funny. I'm facing the wrong way now.

Answer: No.
You missed a step that would have made the answer yes. Back when I had my 911 I tried this 3 times, and luckily, VERY luckily, it worked every time. go in hot, turn wheel, lift throttle, immediately get back into the throttle, do lurid slide around corner feeling like Moss and looking like a pro as something in the back of your mind reminds you that it could have been ugly.

I think the problem is that in these drift competitions the cars seem to drift through at least 75% of the courses, and keeping a 911 drifting from corner to corner might be hard. I'm guessing that the right driver could probably do it.

Had a 1st gen RX-7 20 years ago. That was a fun car. You almost could not help drifting every corner. It was jsut to much fun. They are VERY controllable using just the throttle alone.
