Well, I agree. The Katrina footage was also rather tasteless.

Yes, the Katrina footage was equally bad...I was already too angry to watch after the coffin bit. How these guys think stuff like this helps them is beyond me.

I want to know how the footage got through the Bushco censors. . . I thought any such photography of coffins was strictly VERBOTEN, punishable by secret prison. . .

I think we should all just bury our heads in the sand, pretend there are no deaths as a result of the war and bash anyone else that claims the contrary as "tasteless". After all, it's better that we all be ignorant.

Yea. Bush's policy is really in the best interest of America and it's soldiers. It's better that our soldiers' sacrifice be forgotten and the reality of that sacrifice similarly swept under the rug. Really. He knows what's best for us.

I think the ad is fine, it a bit melodramatic. We are in a senseless, ill-conceived, ill-planned war where over 2,500 Americans have died for the sole purpose, so far, of destabilizing the region and handing an entire country over to radical Islamists.

Every American should see every coffin that comes back from that God-forsaken place. I only wish they could also see the homes, country clubs, and cars of the shameless profiteers who risk nothing and gain everything from this war.

I agree with Wayne that the Dems are hapless and fractured. But I'll still vote for them, because it's hard to conceive that they could do any worse.

I guess you would prefer the Fallen to be just swept under the carpet, invisible, forgotten.

the entire country should see Them, Honor Them. otherwise they are just a number on CNN each night, yeah, it would be nice if Fox told us how many have died for Iraqi Freedom, but I guess a dead blond girl in Aruba sells more ad space and coffe mugs for Hannity.

Your anti-patriotism sickens me.

Only someone with no taste, compassion...or morals at all could justify using a soldier's coffin to justify an attack on the very thing what he gave his life for.

On the other hand...maybe it is appropriate for the coffins to be in the Democratic campaign video since most voted to go to war...then have either outright supported the enemy or at least provided them aid and comfort...and have done their best to ruin our troops morale and make the war almost impossible to fight. Maybe they should show the coffins...because they are, for the large part, responsible.

It must be difficult to be in such a party where the entire platform is so negative...and not one solution in the bunch...and the only/best politician you can put on your congressional campaign video is an impeached president who shamed the office.

You're the one attacking the very thing those soldiers gave their lives for.

If you ever realize that simple fact, maybe there will be some hope for you.

I strongly dislike Bush, but that is asinine.

I think the commercial is pathetic. It says nothing about what the Democrats plans are....nothing at all. But they've got nothing to say.

I actually laughed at the radar image of the hurricane. Like Bush is to blame for the weather?

If you can find one soldier that claims he is willing to give his life for the Demoncratic party....I will agree. Otherwise, you are just being as crass as the video.

So it's not okay to show the graves of Civil War soldiers to (for example) make the point that some people died in the defense of the unjust cause of slavery? By your definition above, it would similarly be wrong for an editorial to show the coffin of a gang leader to make a commentary about the dead-end perils of gang life, right?

The alternative here is to bury the truth and engage in revisionist history. . . Is this REALLY what you'd prefer?

Get a clue. Nobody gives a rats arse about your hatred for your fellow Americans that happen to disagree with your political viewpoint - not even the Republicans.

No it would not.

It is sad you equate soldiers with gang members....but not surprising since the liberal mentality has no respect for the military, why they serve, or their sacrifice.

Everyone knows that military have died/die in war...that does not justify making them a commercial or a bumper sticker. Especially for a cause that they would not/did not support.

Get a clue yourself...your justification for the liberals doing low, disgusting crap fools no one...and using terms like"revisionist" is a weak and morally bankrupt as the video. You show your true colors by attempting to justify such fecal matter.

And contrary to your assertions...few Americans will approve of using the soldiers coffins in such a crass way. The only ones who will are the freakish, radical, left fringe...and you have those votes already. They run the party. You turn the stomachs of the rest of us.

Fintstone, I don't view the use of the coffins an worse than the use of a battleship in making a political statement.

Awww, bull****.

Fint, you're a hate-filled angry lad that simply wants to pin all the world's problems on those that happen to think differently than you - or perhaps those that bother to think at all. Maybe you're threatened by them - dunno. In any event, that's the reality. In any event, it's tiresome. At least Mul's rants are good-humored and funny and makes his points in a "Sam Kinison" kind of way. I enjoy many good laughs reading his stuff. Your "schtick" is just angry, hateful, corrosive and pretty sad/pathetic when one gets right down to it.

I suggest consulting a good therapist. One could probably help you get to the root of your obvious psychological problems. But do us all a favor, please do get some help. The current incarnation of your personality is borderline sociopathic. It's only a matter of time before the rest of us read about you gunning down a bunch of "liberals" at a shopping mall or whatever in furtherance of your delusional crusade. I'm worry about ya'. Get some help.

BTW your generalization that I'm either a Democrat or on the "left wing fringe" is as incorrect and misguided as all your other generalizations (no surprise there I guess). FWIW, I have never registered with EITHER party (Independent only) and have voted in every election - state, federal and LOCAL - that I've ever had the opportunity to. I've voted for the (R) candidate a number of times, probably about 50/50. My political views are pretty simple - I abhor stupidity, ignorance, corruption and unaccountable government on all "sides" and find political manipulation, spin and fact distortion on the left just as abhorrant as on the right. Good luck slapping a label on that.

The difference here is there isn't any real stupidity or ignorance in the DCCC commercial posted. Is it opinionated? Yes. Is it biased? You bet. Wayne nailed it - they're simply presenting some facts to back up a particular point of view and saying "draw your own conclusions" (sane people call this phenomenon "rhetoric"). These conclusions seem overwhelmingly in agreement to 80-ish % of Americans and diametrically opposed to the ones you've obviously reached and obstinately refuse to budge on. If you don't agree, at least reconsider.

Or I suppose you can go back to your minority if you find acceptance and solace there and stop bothering us with your drivel. Although you'll probably find a more receptive audience at your local KKK chapter meetings or at FascistForums.com or someplace like that, I still honestly believe your time would be BEST spent on a shrink's couch or administering yourself a sizeable Prozak or lithium prescription. You obviously need it.

Have a nice morning. Call that shrink, k? I worry 'bout ya' man.

Revisionist history?

Buddy, if you think the civil war was all about slavery you need to read up a bit. Maybe at the end, when Lincoln was trying to rally people behind the war, but if you think it was the primary motivator, well...

Which is worse, the hatred you feel like he is expressing, or the utter lack of respect these ads show. This is sort of like the Cindy Sheehan bunch that was putting the names of fallen soldiers on crosses in a ditch, without approval from the surviving families, then got shitty with them when they wanted to take down the cross with their son's/daughter's name.

The Democratic Party will use the images described, as if they gave a "rat's ass" about the sacrifice represented, at the same time they are talking about our soldiers being criminals, nice.

How exactly is it that that is not exploitive and offensive? I am certain you can explain it, or at the very least, give a nice rationalization.

The flag draped coffins are a graphic reminder of one of the many things your current administration has f__ked up. And a highly medicated nation that gets its world-news largely from Fox, CNN and USA Today definately benefits from a few graphic reminders that all is not well in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

This is so typical:

2,550 or so Americans dead for an unworthy cause is not worth mention, but communicating that loss is 'distasteful.'

Right.

But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that? And watch him suffer."
