74 y/o Has Her Decade-Old Vanity Tags Pulled for "Profanity"

Well, she could use her surname instead....

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A woman in Columbus may lose her long-time vanity license plate because the state now says it's obscene.
Pat Niple (NY'-puhl) has had a plate with the letters N-W-T-F. She says they're short for "Northwood Tree Farm," a Christmas tree business she and her late husband owned.

But the 74-year-old recently got a letter from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles saying the personalized plate violates the agency's standards against profanity.

At a BMV office, Niple says she was told the letters are an abbreviation popular online. She says a clerk whispered it stands for a phrase beginning with, "Now what the."

Niple plans to appeal. In the meantime, she's got temporary tags.

God bless our governments, there to look out for us when and how (they determine) we need it most.

And some has been started by a few of my fellow Corvair owners that have "FNADER" in a couple of states.

Steve -- a guy has those plates? Is there a little rainbow sticker on the bumper next to it?

I only saw the front. It was an old Oldmobile and the driver was a big fat 20 something guy. Think comic book guy from the simpsons but a little younger.

A good article in the WSJ about this years ago.. Guys in prison stamping out plates caught a few acronyms that the DMV was not aware of.

Now everyone here knows that I can have a juvenile sense of humor, but that's freaking hilarious to me. That could change me from road-rage to horse-laughing in .06 seconds.

I don't think it's a personalized plate. Just one in the series. The licenses currently format:

letter number number space letter letter letter (avoiding the ever-expanding Cali way)

Saw a Bently once with the tag YRU NVS - took me about a minute or two to get it then I spent the next few hours wondering why he cared if I was?

My personal favorite:

3M TA3

Makes more sense if you glance at the plate in your rearview mirror....

It is a standard plate.......Flori-duh, eh? Leave to someone from the left coast to see a simple series of letters and numbers and turn it into homo-erotic toilet humor...LMAO
