It is interesting (and sometimes shocking) to hear various opinions here in PPOT. I notice a huge difference in opinions depending on big city dwellers vs non big city dwellers.

Age: 40

Where: Jensen Beach, Florida - 80% of the time, Sylva, North Carolina - June and July as much as possible the rest of the year.

Job: I own a small Land Surveying Company, also founder of a very small in car filming company www.cesirofilms.com, also in the process of trademarking and marketing a novelty item soon.

Married: Married 17 years, 2 boys, a 13 year old and 3 year old.

Cars: 1980SC, 2006 A-6, 2007 Toyota FJ, 1987 RX-7

Hobbies: DE's and Autocrossing, looking into Karting instead now. Most of my spare time is spent with the wife and kids. My family is the most important thing in the world to me.
Why OT: Found P-Parts via google search looking for a 911 to buy. Found it here on Pelican and then stuck around. I have spent countless hours searching topics and reading them about my car. Coupled with Waynes book I have learned alot about my new (to me) car.

O/T is fascinating, its fun to see people interact online. I have been limiting my time on here though and now I have reached my limit typing this up.

Oops - BTW this is the only online forum I use my real name on. I usually go by Jims5543. The Jack name was a joke.

Occupation: Right now a chemical & building safety officer, purchasing agent and manager of a chemistry stockroom at a small regional university. Previously a graphic designer and before that a biotech research scientist. The current job is an early working retirement (at least that is how I look at it).

Family: Wife of 20 years, one beautiful 4 year old daughter and two great danes.

Hobbies: cars, racing sailboats, aikido, hacker golf

Vehicles: 80SC, 99 Subaru Outback, 03 Pacifica

Why Pelican OT: On the edge of banning myself. It is the yelling without listening or posters with personal agendas which I just do not have much time or patience for; discussion is sorely lacking. I have become better at seeing topics/posters to avoid so that may save it for me.

Age: 25

Location: Arlington, VA - nestled up next to DC.

Occupation: Research and Development for US Army

Family: I'm unmarried, but my parents and sister are in the area and I try to see them as often as I can

Hobbies: learning to drive and wrench, skiing (although I'm slowing coming to the conclusion that I can't afford the track hobby and the ski hobby - both are too expensive!), I'm training for my first marathon right now. Goal is to qualify for Boston - 3:10. I'm also an avid hasher, where my hash name is "Blows A Tranny" because of my car obsession.

Vehicles: '87 BMW 325 (track) and '97 BMW 528i (daily)

Why PPOT: On the political threads, I like to know how the other half thinks, even if I disagree or don't really believe they're actually thinking. The other threads are always full of interesting or funny comments.

ETC: Used to play paintball, until I got a Porsche. I weight lift 3 times a week, run, bicycle, play video games, work around the house. I love BBQ, cigars, beer, and gin.
Why OT: Found the forum to be much more mature than the 13-year-olds on the paintball forum I used to frequent. I used to get overemotional about politics, but soon realized that no-one's opinions were changing. Try to stay away from most political threads or at least post before they devolve.

Why PPOT: Sold the 944 because it did not fit a family well. (The GTP supercharger helps lessen the pain of a family car) Persist in appearing on OT because it seems the stereotype of "People with expensive are generally smarter that people with crappy cars" has some merit as the discussions are more "mature".
