How about a good news post for a change...

Our local paper:

The gist...

'You're an angel ... my angel'
After searching for her mysterious hero, Redondo Beach woman is reunited with the Carson man who saved her life after she fell unconscious. VIDEO
By Paul Clinton and Kristin S. Agostoni
DAILY BREEZE

Mary Beth Miller finally came face to face Tuesday with the man who not only saved her life, but changed her life as well.

"You're an angel, you're my angel," Miller told Theo Jensen as she wrapped her arms around the Carson man who resuscitated her as she lay in desperate need of air on the floor of a Redondo Beach liquor store.

The two -- only three years apart in age, at 49 and 52 -- met for a reunion with the firefighters who arrived at Mr. B.J.'s Liquor store on the morning of July 22 to find Jensen pumping his hands on Miller's chest to keep her blood circulating.

Miller, who appealed to the news media last week to help find her anonymous rescuer, said her life changed the moment she collapsed that morning in the liquor store, where she had gone to buy a pack of Salem 100 cigarettes.

With tears moistening her cheeks, she told Jensen: "For 52 years, I have not lived. I began living that day."

Since her heart attack, Miller has given up smoking, stopped taking antidepressants and decided not to return to her job as a legal secretary.

Jensen said he read about his heroic act as a nameless good Samaritan in the Daily Breeze and decided to come forward.

The cabinet maker said he was headed to the shoreline that morning with his brother and nephew. While the duo surfed in waves near the foot of Knob Hill Avenue, Jensen walked to the Catalina Avenue convenience store to buy food. The surf spot is a few blocks from Miller's home.

That's when he found Miller lying helpless on the floor. A mixture of medications she was taking had caused her heart to seize, Miller said doctors told her.

"As soon as I walked in the door, there she was, lying on the floor on her side," Jensen said. "So I tipped her head and breathed into her mouth."

He performed CPR until firefighter-paramedics Paul Grochowski, Jasen Brown and Kevin Coffelt arrived a few minutes later.

The crew asked him to step aside, shocked Miller's heart three times, hooked her up to an IV and loaded her into an ambulance.

But in their rush to get to the hospital, paramedics failed to get Jensen's name.

They speculated that, had it not been for him keeping Miller's blood flowing, she might not have survived.

"That was quite an ordeal for me," said Jensen, who learned CPR as a Boy Scout but lacked formal training and never had previously used it.

After the ambulance left, he said he headed to the liquor store's counter to buy a sandwich, chocolate milk, string cheese and two beers. The clerk wouldn't accept his money. Jensen then walked down to the beach to collect his thoughts and catch up with his family.

In the days Miller spent searching for her mysterious hero, Jensen said he continued to wonder whether the anonymous woman he helped had survived. He missed coverage of Miller's plea on television and in the newspaper -- until his brother showed him the Breeze over the weekend. And then he knew.

Nope its easy to turn this political, she was on all of the drugs because doctors overly prescribed her drugs, which should have never been passed by the FDA, due to the lobbyist at the white house, and its Bush's fault because he should have forced a bill on the lobbyist. (sorta works)
