My offer is still out there. SO your modded "S" can beat a stock 930 and my modded 930 can beat your modded "s"... big friggin deal. The internet muscles are swelling by the second. PROVE ME WRONG

tonypeoni 10-11-2006 01:48 PM

Ive been staying out of this cause I think its silly to fight about old sport cars being fast. Honestly most of our cars are considered slow by todays standards. I have to add that in this months 911&PORSCHE WORLD issue 151 page 75 it states that a raped 911 turbo 3.3 does 0-60 in 4.9 secs.

I AM IN MALIBU!

1) No, the plan is you drive and we reach 8,500. I'm not about to take that risk. 165 mph I can skip as I don't want to be killed.

2) Cash for what? I said "see" not "buy."

3) It's "dd74," and your caps lock are on again.

4) PM me your info. Marco doesn't need to get in the middle of this.

during my days of working for porsche here in phx., NEVER did a 911 S-T-E-L or 914-6 beat a 930. we moved them from phx tucson and back. we had to drive them everyday if they were used, to charge batteries and any complaints we had were taken care of asap since they were for sale. and our manager was a class 10 A$$ if they were not perfectly running.

what do you think we did going down I-10? run the living dog snot out of them! in those days traffic was sparse, cops few. we had a pretty cool democratic society amongst us all for who got to drive what................whoever got to the cars first on a dead run!

jack doverspike(stuttgart) and don jackson(RIP) both were the hot shoe mechanics of that era @ johnson bozzani.

i will say this........i watched a number of pretty cool 914-6's eat 911S's for lunch a few times!

BUT NEVER DID A 911S or T whuup a$$ on a 930!

what i remember very clearly was getting stuck with the turd-mobile on a few trips the DREADED AUDI 100LS or an AUDI FOX! those scary thoughts just will not go away as the 930 sucked my doors off in a blinding flash going by me!

RAPED 3.3 TURBO 0-60 4.9 that IS SLOW!

If a lightened 3.3 turbo only pulls 4.9 seconds that is slow..

My 4,400 LBS SL55 does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds!

And that is before I add the Upgraded Supercharger Pulley! Then it should be around 4.0 flat 0-60..

The new Turbo at 0-60 in 3.5 seconds now thats fast!

I have not wanted to speak up but I guess I have one point.
I have driven Sears and thunderhill and I have no rear wing, at higher speeds it can get dicey without certain winged products in the rear.
The 165 mph targa has none and the ride height looks to be us spec.
So when you do this run to 165 please make sure a medevac is on had. for your own safety please.

dd74 the cash is the $100 that I get when the car pulls 8,500RPM in 2nd + 3rd

I believe that my offer was pretty simple and clear..

I will put a $100 against your $100 that the car will pull 8,500 RPM in 2nd and 3rd thats about 80-90MPH. If the car pulls 8,500 then I get both bills ($200) if it does not then you get the $200 and can tell everyone that I am full of *****. That should be worth $100 by itself

Deal?

Preferably I would llike to get a few guys out that way I can make enough for my time.. But one at a time will work..

lets just see the "BIG BANG THEORY IN MOTION"! 930 vs TARGA!

THE THRILLA w/VANILLA or milly vannillie meets monster of DOOM 930 from HELL!

i'll throw a $100 bucks at this just to get a piston or two or six and some cams and valves etc. for paperweights of this monumental automotive feat !

mind if i place a video camera on rear bumper to tape the mystery motor as it EXPLODES IN A HUGE BALL OF FLAME SPARKS AND SMOKE!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat3.gif

mb911 10-11-2006 02:18 PM

my car will pull 8500 in every gear how long will it last?? just having fun now:p

skinnerd 10-11-2006 02:22 PM

I hope a $130k car with 510hp and 531 ft-lb of torque can do 0-60 in 4.2 sec.

Any car with as little as 8.6 lb/hp should be able to pull those kind of numbers.

I would think a lightened 930 is still above 8.6 lb/hp.
It shouldn't be as fast.

So I don't get it....what's your point?

But nice car at any rate.:)

THE 165 MPH WAS IN THE DESERT ON A VERY LONG STRAIGHT STRETCH

Dave from TRE put together a Solvang Stomp (Mini Gumball Rally) around 7-10 years ago. We were in the middle of the Mojave Desert on a super long straight stretch Mid Morning in perfect weather. There were around 30-50 Porsches some driving modestly others NOT!

I dont think that I would do it again but we (Tony and I) were nearly at 8,200 RPM in 5th (29/21 ratio)..

About 5 years prior on another Solvang Stomp I was in my 427 Cobra racing a Ferrari 365GTB Daytona. We were on the then new and empty Semi Valley Frwy and the speedo showed 175MPH in the Cobra and the guy in the Daytona said his showed over 170MPH.

Is it crazy Probably!

But driving a 930 Turbo at 130-140MPH with a helicoper skid 3 feet above the car or Letting the James Bond Mini Jet (Silver Bullet) flying inverted at 20 feet above the ground close on me in a 930 Turbo at 370MPH (150MPH Turbo -220MPH Jet) is also crazy.. But thats what I get paid the big bucks to do.

execmalibu . 10-11-2006 02:43 PM

tonypeoni I dont know how to post photos on this site..

email me and I will send photos of the 74 Dino Spyder.. Red/Tan original paint only 27,000 original miles..

Gogar 10-11-2006 02:46 PM

This thread gives me a stomachache.

But I will stand by my post on page 1 where I feel my car will rev past 8500 rpm . . . . but probably only once. I know what kind of car i have.
I stayed in a 2006 Prevost XLII last night.

LOL! Was that "the deal"? Well, I must have missed it. I thought the $100 was for a race. I just want to look at the car and see it pull 8,500, not place a bet as to whether it can or cannot. I could care less about winning the money and seeing you get stuck with an $8,500 pile of magnesium garbage, and losing $100 for the sake of reving up a motor...uh...no.

C'mon, just be a man about this! You can bring the car to me or I can go see the car. There's enough interest in this thread to see if your car is what it is, and if your car does pass 8,500 RPM, you can make however many pages this thread is your trophy against cynicism. Just show the goods. They do it over at new Porsche dealerships all the time.

BTW: as we meander through this muck of what your car can and cannot do, and particularly if you plan to sell something else in the Porsche world, have you ever stopped to think...Some of these guys could one day be a client, but here I am, ****ing up my client base by putting in question my credibility...

$100 won't replace that, my friend. ;)

execmalibu . 10-11-2006 03:35 PM

Why would I consider waisting my time?

I dont know you?

Why would I even consider waisting me time to dig the car out to give free rides? I would have to move a Bimota Tesi and a Triumph to get the car out..

Do you really think that I would bet money if I ever thought that I would loose? I know the car and what it can do..I dont intend on waisting time trying to prove what I already know is true..

Plus many of the idiots would say it was fixed, a fluke or the engines going to genade the next time out etc, etc. Thats why I said line-em up.. or bring on your stock 930 Turbo and $500 then well race.. The $500 goes to the winner 0-80MPH..

I made and offer and there are guys that say they will back you by putting up the $100.. Lets go guys this is a challenge..Try to prove your point and make me a liar..It is only a $100.. If the motor Genades than you have a great story!

For $100 per I will give rides and prove ups all day long...

Also I would love to hear the response over a Ogner (Auto Gallery) when you tell them I dont want buy a new Turbo or Carrera GT I just want to go for a ride flat out..

911boost 10-11-2006 04:05 PM

Wow.

I'd race you in my Enzo, but then I'd need to move the S7 and Ford GT out of the way, which would be way too much work.

This thread should be moved to OT, I'd like to see Fastpaste and some of the others give their opinions.

DohertyCM 10-11-2006 04:06 PM

NUT UP!

THE GANTLET HAS BEEN THROWN DOWN>>>>

LINE UP WITH MONEY OR SHUT UP>>>

YOU ALL ASKED FOR PROOF>>>>>WELL NUT UP.....

Otherwise its just track trash talk,....and we all do that...

BECAUSE IF YOU GUYS DONT, Im going think all you guys in California do is just talk and position your cars for pictures in magizines...

IF HE WERE IN FLORIDA.....WE WOULD NUT UP!

dd74 10-11-2006 04:08 PM

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think anyone here has directly called you a liar. Those are your own words.

Secondly, aside from a couple gifted others who were not in the car with you at the time you were exceeding 8,500 RPM, it is s your claim against an entire thread of experts who know these cars backward and forward that your car is able to do what you say it can. The others on this thread are mechanics, racers, enthusiasts, etc., so I'm inclined, while giving you the benefit of the doubt, to side with them only because of the depth of their knowledge base.

Third - the only way an engine is "fixed" is if it is something that it's not, i.e. misrepresented. Meanwhile you represent it as an OEM product. This goes back to you referring to yourself as a potential liar.

Fourth - $100 bucks for a ride vs. wasting your time "digging it out" from a king's ransom of other specialty cars this little Targa is warmly tucked behind - well, I see your point as to the duress my desire to see the car might put you through. But then again, it is for sale. Will you charge everyone who has an interest in it $100 to see it drive to the potential that you tout?

Fifth - I have a suspicion I'd be wasting my time as much as you would be wasting yours. But decidedly, my time is more valuable simply because whenever I post something for sale, I do so with succinct, honest and acurate fact so I don't have to waste more time defending my ad or myself later on.
