Shaun @ Tru6 10-11-2006 10:35 AM

I'm definitely not touching the 165 top speed claim, but I have driven a 914-6 with a very special 2.4 built by an ex-Jo Siffert mechanic that definitely revved to 8500. No, this wasn't a stock motor. Yes, it was balls out fun and fast.

dd74 10-11-2006 10:39 AM

Well, I wouldn't want to see it or any engine blow up. But I do trust Marco (Mr. 914-6) and Dave (TRE cup) as saying this engine has the potential Malibu says. So all that's needed to bridge the gap between stated fact and dubiousness is to see the car in person and in action.

If I'm not invited to do so, that can indicate several uncomfortable issues that, if I were a seller, I sure as hell would not want those on this board to investigate about my business practices.

HELP I'M STUCK.......

"the guy i bought the blue targa from, said it will go 165MPH PLUS and im stuck out here in the mojave with oil all over the ground and something sticking out the bottom of the engine!"

DO YOU THINK ITS A JETTING PROBLEM??????

artplumber 10-11-2006 11:03 AM

This thread sure took off.:D

For a lousy hundred$, anytime you're in Fl, I'd be happy to examine your claims."

"The use of the term 'supercooled liquid' to describe glass still persists, but is considered by many to be an unfortunate misnomer that should be avoided. In any case, claims that glass panes in old windows have deformed due to glass flow have never been substantiated. Examples of Roman glassware and calculations based on measurements of glass visco-properties indicate that these claims cannot be true. The observed features are more easily explained as a result of the imperfect methods used to make glass window panes before the float glass process was invented."

pwd72s 10-11-2006 11:18 AM

I guess this damned glass thread just won't die!

Call me vindictive...I'm punishing everyone who contributed to this POS thread.

goldgunner 10-11-2006 11:55 AM

All this verbosity, indignation and grandiosity and not one pelican person in lala land will show up, suit up and put up $ 100.00?

Jeez - I don't get it...what's up with THAT?

lateapex911 10-11-2006 11:58 AM

I'm not in LA, thats whats up with that.
And one Pelican has asked repeatedly to merely look at the car, and has been ignored.

methinks the situation is obvious.

Great thread, thanks to all who helped kill the last 45 minutes of this ****ty day in the market for me.

Maybe “correct” in correct motor means something other than what the regulars generally mean. After I was through laughing my biggest issue is we all know that a true STOCK motor won’t make the claims here true. So when he says “correct” maybe that’s a euphemism meaning it’s not a T or E motor and surely not a small block Chevy or something, but a motor whose case is correct for and S. I think Bill Clinton said it best... “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” well Bill I guess that all depends on what you mean by “correct” opps I mean “Sexual relations” On the one hand Bill is “correct” he technically didn’t have relations with her but then again its not technically and S motor either... According my wife the moment another woman’s mouth touches my “correct” S motor then she gets ˝ of everything...that being the case this aint no stock motor I don’t care what gearing you use and in my book that’s a very lose definition of “correct”

My feelings on the rest of whats gone on here are VERY well known by those who have read my cynical posts over the years. In fact I was scolded by some here in the past.

My .02 cents? Well everyone is as rich and good looking as they say here, they can all hold down as much beer and bag as many women as they claim. I agree that any 912 (no offense 912 guys) can crush any 930 under the correct internet conditions. This morning on my way into the city I blew past a new 997 turbo in my 1973 VW Thing, so trust me it happens. My VW has the correct motor, not sure what it’s correct for but it’s correct. Did I mention I have 11 IRL and 21 F1 races under my belt as a driver? Prove any of this wrong.. I got a 100 bucks says you can’t.

I have to run both Hilton sisters asked to meet with me personally since the Hedge Fund I run has returned on average 250% a month we’re very selective about whose money we’re taking in. The sisters are here to make a special pitch to me, I liked their first pitch was fairly convincing but I need to have them lay it on me correctly again.

The moral of the story here? This may be a fine motor and a fine car and capable of doing some of what’s claimed but it’s not a “stock” motor which is what most people associate with the word "correct". The rest of the mess here is just internet muscles.

DohertyCM 10-11-2006 12:24 PM

As someone once said in this thread....

Someone "nut up" the $100 and solve this mystery puzzle...

Where are all the Porsche guys in So CAL....?

pwd72s 10-11-2006 12:32 PM

How 'bout we take up a collection? $100 must be a lot of money to an impoverished Porsche owner in L.A. I'd be willing to donate $5.00. You see, that's a LOT of money for an old goat who gets social security checks...;)

trader220 10-11-2006 12:37 PM

I'll put 100k to his 100 bucks but I get to bring the 930. I give you my word it will have the “correct” motor.

dd74 10-11-2006 12:41 PM

1) Quite a few Pelicans are racing right now, in their 911s at Willow Springs. So the fault of not finding a challenge lies as much with the seller as anyone else not willing to "nut up $100."

2) My offer still stands to see the car, drive the car, or ride in the car while seller revs it to 8,500 RPM.

Albeit, I'm very curious if all this is true, and would not hesitate to stand behind execmalibu if it were. Since he has not responded, I imagine this is a moot point.

goldgunner 10-11-2006 01:25 PM

So DD74 do you need someone to spot you the $ 100 bucks to see if he will accept your # 2 offer?

execmalibu . 10-11-2006 01:32 PM

DD24 MARCO HAS MY NUMBER

DD24

PLEASE HAVE MARCO GIVE YOU MY PHONE NUMBER...

OBVIOUSLY YOU WILL BRING CASH...

WHERE DOES IT SAY I PLAN ON LETTING ANYONE ELSE DRIVE THE CAR..

I AM IN MALIBU!

dd74 10-11-2006 01:34 PM

Nah! I'm good. I just wanted to see this mystery machine to prove Seller as not FOS - he's been ganged up on pretty well here. All I wanted to do is give Seller the benefit of the doubt since I'm not too far from Malibu, if the car is in Malibu.

In the long run, I think what Seller really needs is a friend to act as copy editor for his ad. What he wrote could be an honest mistake or oversight, though again...
