A possible explanation
I've been trying to think of ways that would explain the ebay ad claims. So, I sent the link to a friend. This friend doesn't wish to have his name posted on the boards, but he has given permission to post his email response:
"Taking the top off reduces the weight of the car and allows the air turbulence to create a vacuum effect that actually pulls the car along permitting the higher top end. As with hp ratings, Porsche was very conservative with their rev limits. Part of it was a simple financial matter. VDO had done a run of thousands of tachometers for Porsche based on early estimates. When the engineers informed management that the rev limits were in fact much higher they were simply told to design a limiting device (rotor) to keep the engines in the range of the already produced instruments to avoid the cost of designing a whole new batch of tachometers. Most insiders know that the key to the rpms currently attained by the F1 engines (19K+) is simply due to removal of any rev limiting hardware." |
I WANT TO IGNORE THIS SITE BUT I KEEP GETTING EMAILS!
For the record I would have ignored this thread a long time ago but every time somone posts a reply I get an email.. I try to ignore them but when there are 5-8 emails at a time the curiosity prevails.
Pdw72s, First you slam me, call me a liar and other less then honorable names but now your last post seems like you are defending me! "Taking the top off reduces the weight of the car and allows the air turbulence to create a vacuum effect that actually pulls the car along permitting the higher top end. Please stop this and do not post anything that may support my claims! I need all good adversaries that I can get! $100 per non believer is going to pay for my new tires and helmet! TSUTER, You posted part of my ebay ad on this thread.. "1973 "S" CAR, EARLY 1973 "S" ENGINE ... I DO KNOW THIS ENGINE RUNS AMAZINGLY STRONG!.. THE ENGINE PULLS VERY HARD PAST 8,500+ RPM WITH NO PROBLEM! (YES PAST THE HIGHEST 8,000 RPM MARK ON THE TACH!).. THE ENGINE DOES HAVE THE ORIGINAL MECHANICAL INJECTION (MFI) WITH 013 PUMP... THE SHORT GEARED (HILL CLIMB RATIOS) 915 TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GREAT AND HAS THE RS LIMITED SLIP !... ..... ASK SOME OF THE OTHER LUNATICS THAT HAVE BEEN ON SOME OF THE LOCAL PORSCHE AND "R" GROUPE EVENTS WITH ME... THEY HAVE SEEN THIS CAR RUN AT OVER 165 MPH! AND HAVE SEEN THIS CAR OUT RUN 930 TURBOS AND OTHER RS TYPE CARS 0-100+ MPH.. PLUS REMEMBER IT IS A TARGA!... Thankyou! lets go over the ad line by line so I can prove that every word is accurate! .................................................. ... Statement proven to be True...... False Statement (1) "1973 "S" CAR, EARLY 1973 "S" ENGINE Chassis #91133102** Engine #6330***................................... X Statement (2) THE ENGINE PULLS VERY HARD PAST 8,500+ RPM WITH NO PROBLEM! (YES PAST THE HIGHEST 8,000 RPM MARK ON THE TACH!) Photo posted, witnesses confirmed, offer to observe...................... X Statement (3) THE ENGINE DOES HAVE THE ORIGINAL MECHANICAL INJECTION (MFI) WITH 013 PUMP Photo posted, witnesses confirmed, offer to observe...................... X Statement (4) THE SHORT GEARED (HILL CLIMB RATIOS) 915 TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GREAT AND HAS THE RS LIMITED SLIP !... Short gears (1-4) taller 5th (29/21 ratio) RS limited slip in trans. witnesses confirmed (mechanic), offer to observe........................ X Statement (5/6) ASK SOME OF THE OTHER LUNATICS".. THEY HAVE SEEN THIS CAR RUN AT OVER 165 MPH! AND HAVE SEEN THIS CAR OUT RUN 930 TURBOS AND OTHER RS TYPE CARS 0-100+ MPH.. Two Highly Respected Porsche experts have posted that they were present and observed the claimed speed and performance claimed!.......................................... ...................... X In Law School I was taught that the evidence will speak for itself but that having credible eye witneeses that will testify is always a winning case! PS, To the idiot that said the LIMITED SLIP is not and RS limited slip.. The Limited Slip is standard in the Carrera RS (but an option in the T,E,S) so it is often referred to as an RS Limited Slip. This is also the case with the 380MM Steering wheel. Standard on the RS and commonly referred to as an RS Wheel but also offered as an option on the (T,E,S)... Other parts are also commonly referred to as RS (Plastic Tank, Duck Tail, Door Panels Etc) that could be ordered as an option on any 911! If you had a special order Duck Tail off a 73 911T.. Try advertizing it as a 911T Duck Tail for $350... You probably will not get any response. Then advertize the same tail as an RS Duck Tail for $3,500 and your phone will ring off the hook! |

So when did "Out run 930 Turbos and RS Types 0-100+ MPH" become 80mph stock 930 only no mods and no RS?? Car runs in the 12s right?? When did 165+mph at " Local Porsche and R Gruppe Events" become.... I'm not going to do that and something about it was ten years ago in the desert on a five mile runway??? When did "Pulls very hard past 8,500+ RPM with no problems...become "I'll do a little shifting in gears 1-2-3 and some spirited driving??? Oh you just answered.... You learned that quibbling in Laaaaaw School..... (Please DO NOT tell us which one) Here's your top speed, "Mr. 46 Posts All In One Thread I'm not Gonna Prove My eBay Claims But I Can Quibble Them Away." http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1160930641.gif Muhahhahaha!! |
TSUTER YOU ARE NOT THE SHARPEST PENCIL IN THE BOX ARE YOU!
Tsuter,
Why dont you stop typing and read what it says? It says "ASK" and "THEY HAVE SEEN THIS CAR RUN AT OVER 165 MPH!" The people who I was referring to when I made this statement have in fact come forward on this post and have confirmed.. "I WAS THERE!" "I HAVE SEEN" what he is claiming... WHAT THE HELL ELSE DO YOU GUYS WANT? Just for the record, This was not the case but to prove a point. Is a 1976-77 3.0 liter Turbo 4 speed considered a 930 TURBO? The answer is YES! Also to make the statement 100% true and accurate I would have only had to out-run two 930s like 3.0 liter cars right! Not every Turbo on the planet! What are RS TYPE CARS? RS CLONES with a 2.7? But to prove the car is truely fast! I have offered to run against a 3.3 4 Speed 930 Turbo... But that aint good enough.. From the mouths of MORONS comes KA KA! This is a no win Im done! |
After evaluating the competition, I proclaim myself on top

i have held my coffee fueled fingers for a couple of days now. i even stated i would back malibuboy 100% if all of HIS CLAIMS, can be verified . but now its LAW SCHOOL and you CAN'T EVEN SPELL WITNESS plural!!!!! WTF! come on man, learn about the little button called "SPILL CHICK"! (SPELL CHECK). didnt harvard or was it yale, teach proper spilling?????(spelling)
the incredible amount of backpedaling is amazing to say the least, let alone how testing/verification procedures have gone full circle. all i can say is this thread just will not die, until either the 930 has the doors blown off it, or 8500PLUS+ RPM is reached, or the mysterywunder motor has its guts blown across the countryside in a shower of sparks -flame-smoke-and metal parts flying thru the air! this has to be the number ONE (1) post on pelican for 2006! now malibulaw-boy next your going to tell us, your "THE FIRST MAN ON THE MOON" and your an INDY CAR RACER as well as an F1-RACER, and a U.S. NAVY SEAL who was in "THE NAM"! and to this day you cannot speak of your covert missions because of the EXTREME NEED FOR NATIONAL SECURITY! oh yeah...........to cease the constant bothersome e-mails from us low life, know nothing, have never driven race bikes-race cars, crashed in planes etc. kind of guys..............THERES A LITTLE BOX YOU CLICK to cease all e-mail notification. but SINCE YOUR EGO CAN'T STAND THE CURIOSITY of what all of us write about your B.S....................you dont have the huevos nor the WILLPOWER TO CLICK IT! LOL! |

Did you graduate from law school? I ask because I have never seen a lawyer behave in the manner you represent.

I heard that he helped Al Gore invent the internet.

I haven't read this whole thread, so I apologize if this question has been asked before. Flat out it takes hp to maintain a top speed. If it takes 8500 rpm to get the car to 165 MPH in fifth gear, then it will take, what, 275 hp to attain 165 MPH? Does this engine develop 275 hp at 8500 rpm??
Second, what does the ability of an engine being able to rev to 8500 rpm in first, second, and third have to do with a car being able to do 165 mph? |
that's not me, I just thought it was funny.
everyone should just go out and have a beer and chill |
an ugly mug anyhow jerry;)

Since you’re so quick to make childish remarks about others reading comprehension nice and safe from behind your computer, may I suggest you actually read one of those alert emails you get from this site. Then you can simply click on the “unsubscribe” portion unless of course you simply need to insult as many people as you can with your internet muscles. |

No fair PWD72S, your prejudging and you dont want to do that. There will be plenty of time for ridicule and harsh language after the 15th..... |
can somebody hook up a live webcam so we all can see this monumental event as it unfolds [or blows up] before us ?
