His "normal state." WTF do you know about his "normal state"? WTF do you know about the normal state of *anyone* with Parkinsons?

Answer: apparently nothing. Evidently you think that his past TV appearances reflect the "reality" of his current condition. Here's another clue for you:

TV ISN'T REALITY

Maybe you should just stick to watching football games...
I've got a killer source, I think he knows better than you...infact I know he does.so now what do you say, do you know better than him as well???? Maybe you should stick to music:

"So I haven't had any, you know, problems with pure Parkinson's symptoms in any of these interviews, because I'll tend to just make sure that I have enough Sinemet in my system and, in some cases, too much. But to me, it's preferable. It's not representative of what I'm like in my everyday life."

You know what you can do with your moron comment.

Where am I going? Simply to show that this is simply making a mountain out of a molehill. People will differ on opinion about stem cell research; I expect that. But, to me, at least, mimiking someone and minimizing their suffering is unacceptable behavior. Many listeners of these opiners cannot tell the difference between truth and opinion.

What about the "hate" factor ? Where is the compassion? Why would someone with the bully pulpit actually mock a person with an eventually fatal disease? If Christopher Reeve were still alive, would he have been ridiculed as well?

I think he would have been. But of course, that is me simply stating my opinion. Do I still have that right, or is that right reserved for "special" opiners?

Someone's not paying attention here (how unusual).

What a Parkinson's sufferer is like without the medication is near-paralysis and without the ability to speak clearly.

Now, speaking clearly would be a useful thing for an actor, yes?

And especially when testifying before Congress or doing a TV show or doing a TV commercial.

That's what he's referring to as 'problems with pure Parkinson's.'

It's a bit of a dilemma: show Parkinson's symptoms and be difficult to understand, or show the symptoms induced by the medication and look a bit ...theatrical.

BTW, there's a video of Rush doing his show and physically mocking MJF as he trashes his TV spot.

Anyone who thinks Rush is being 'respectful' of Fox ought to look that up.

Rush is a despicable human being, fat, lazy, drug-addicted and shameless. Maybe the worst person in public life today.

And a hero to guys like daddy.

If you want to know what is wrong with our country, there's a good starting point.

I've lived it. You haven't. Or if you have (or have a "source") then you're more pathetic and idiotic than I can imagine.

You have no clue. Period. You think you do. More's the pity. And your lack of empathy is astounding.

i'm out.

Like I said, your experience makes you irrational. Either that or you think you know more than Fox himself. Bye.

I never even said he took too much intentionally, only that it is not his normal state. My source for this is MJF himself, and evidenced by the fact that he does not appear that way in any of his other appearances.

Logic is a b1tch.

I disagree, it wasn't a mock it was anger. Rush most most upset with the misleading nature of the ad and what he called outright lies it contained. Then he coupled this with MJF being put out there in the most pathetic way possible in an what he considered an attempt to insulate the ad from challenge and it pissed him off even more.

He wasn't mocking or ridiculing him, he was however upset with him for misleading the public about an issue he is passionate about. Watch the video, listen to the tape, he wasn't laughing at him. ...he was pissed.

Does he not have the right to be upset with someone he feels is lying or misleading the voters?

I can't believe that people are so desparate to defend that con man. He was flat out wrong but now, apparently, egos are involved. Not on Rush's part, of course - he already cashed his check.

Since you are so desparate to see "the truth" - I just met with a 76-year-old Marine Corp vet who has had Parkinson's for the last 10 years. He's an incredible inspiration. Since some of you are so certain in your resolve, perhaps you should meet him, too. He gets up at 4:30 a.m. and can barely move. He takes his meds and begins an hour or two of stretching and exercises so he can function to the greatest degree possible. Since he's up so early, you can have plenty of time to explain how much you know about him and his disease.

When I think of that man compared to some of the self-proclaimed experts, the distinction could not be more sharp.

This thread explains why I argue with daddy so much. He's a loyal soldier for the wrong side.

And he surrenders nothing, not even to give us a glimpse of his humanity.

What possible point do you think you made? Did someone disparage people with Parkinsons and I missed it?

Yes, someone did, and no, you did not miss it.

You've been defending it for 7 pages now.

len, my friend, you sometimes show a lack of sensitivity that is awe inspiring!!! (except when your business is suffering, though!!)

May you or none of your loved ones ever be stricken with a disabling ailment and be subjected to mockery!!

I really mean that. The suffering of others should NEVER be a subject of ridicule.

This topic has shown a great divide among attitudes. I wonder what a psychologist would make of many of the posts.

A psychologist would probably say that some folks are touchy and some are not so much (not neccesarily anything wrong with either). Kind of like how some kids would be ready to throw down if someone told a "your momma" joke while others would just snicker at the joke.

He would also probably state that the commercial was made to have the most effect by showing the MJF in a way that would tug at the most heartstrings (duh).

That, Tim, is probably the most objective post I have seen on this thread.

Let me ask you this....in your honest opinion....

If Fox made an ad for a republican and Al Franken did what Rush did, would those 'others" who "snicker at a joke" be snickering?

Actually CC, I hate all the ads. All of them are aimed at the most uninformed, lowest common denominator idiots and insult the intelligence of anyone who follows the issues. Plenty of GOP ads bother me too, but I haven't seen one this cycle (remember where I live) that comes close to the level of the MJF ad.
