I wanna work where 930addict works.

Steve, being a "labor" guy, you might guess that I'm not impressed by companies who do not take advantage of the opportunity to provide benefits to you at substantially less cost than you will have to pay to buy them. And they are, for the most part, not subject to payroll taxes, so they can actually save the company money. What this says to me is "you're on your own."

The difference in pay, in this instance, is nowhere near what I would require in order to quit a good job with good benefits. I like working for good companies that understand value and understand the importance of having a talented staff and proper equipment, and attend to those important details. Like benefits. I don't like working for short-sighted companies that think everyone can be replaced and are guessing that their newest business idea just HAS to work. I'll do it, but I'll consider it a short-term consulting position and my fee would reflect that.

Good point, thanks.

My job allows me to appreciate the fact that I spend more than 10 cents a roll on toilet paper. Nothing like that end of the day feeling where you have to decide if you want to wait to you get home, or risk a sore butt.

My collar is pretty blue, but the benefits are pretty good.

about 3 weeks vacation a year, with days added for every year after 5.
50 percent match on 401k
100 dollars a month for dental, vision, and health insurance for a whole family, no limits on kids.
profit sharing after ten years (thats a joke, since most profit is put back into the company for expansion)

benefits are good, pay is ok for someone with no college degree, but the turn over rate is high. something like 3 percent of new hires stay for more than 6 months.

I recently change jobs myself and they "pay" wasn't that different but the benefits made the difference.

The medical at Job #1 was for me alone and they would only provide benefits for my spouse if I could provide documentation stating that her employer did not offer them. I could of course get them for my offspring. Those medical benefits were so so at best but cheap, I only paid $20 and not much more for my wife and kid if I added them (with proper documentation). The problem was that none of the Dr's we'd had for my wife and my kid took the plan. So, we were kind of a$$'d out on with out of network costs.

The only offered $500 a year in tuition reimbursement and every time I submitted something it was denied. Not only is a paltry $500 insulting considering the cost of any local college course but to DENY every attempt at that?!! pffffft!

No bonuses for my particular department but other departments, even other teams in our department received upwards of 20%. We're the network team, you're a high-end revenue generating website.

Incentive me please.

3 weeks vacation (not bad) plus 2 personal days.

Highly alcholic environment; There is no doubt that my director was an alcholic. The company as a rule was throwing drinking parties on a monthly basis. Now, if I were still in my 20s that'd be cool I suppose but even then it wasn't that cool to me.

What else is there...heck I don't even know...Flexibleish working hours mainly because I had to work late night hours on the network to fix it when it needed fixing (which was often because the previous guy didn't understand what a broadcast domain was).

The new company; much larger multinational deal. No cap on tuition reimbursement and they have approved every request. That alone was a driving factor in the move. They did offer me more pay but only around $4000 more (only he says, who the f am I anyway?!). the benefits cost more but I can use them at all of my Doctors so they probably break even on me or save me a little.

3 weeks vacation, 1 personal day, comp time because I'm a network guy. So far I've taken a week off in the first 3 months and not touched a day of vacation. I've scheduled another 3 days during the thanksgiving week and again, not touching my vacation. Of course I am working that time off doing things in normally off hours as required (comp time remember?) but that time really isn't tracked.

I can also telecommute as needed in the new position, the old position was of the opinion that if I wasn't at my desk I wasn't working. Lame.

Of course the new job is less than 5 miles from home too so that didn't hurt (la traffic sucks eh?).

Anyway...stay where you are man.

Being in Sales, every expense is paid. I get $3800 monthly as an expense account which covers everything including travel, office expenses, the 993 and gas. Medical/dental benefits are free, 401k is included.

I am also getting salary, commissions and a monthly draw if needed.

this is a new job, the last job was very similar and paid very very well. I might not make that much with this job...but surely it will be less stressful and less hours...i left the previous job on my own accord in part because the hours were ridiculous and i started my own company.

Anyway, sales is the way to go if you want free stuff, preferrable in an industry related to health care.

I work for a large corporation, the "company that holds all knowledge"

Here's my breakdown;

Salary is decent for what I do, but it's a job, not a career
~3 weeks vacation
un-tracked sick time
bonus structure, only the same guys get them every year.
8 holidays
5K tuition reimbursement
Cell and DSL reimbursement
3% matching of 401K up to 'x' dollars
The kicker? $930.00 per month for medical, dental, vision, ADD, legal. The plans are ok, but not worth those kind of bucks

I just went thru two rounds of interviews for an (out of state) IT Director position, which I am really jonesing for, meaning I probably won't get it

none.

I'm self employed. That's benefit enough, not workin' for "The Man".

I am self employed in California.

I get the benefit of paying more taxes and working harder than most for the priviledge

I couldn't agree more except to add, consultative sales rather than retail sales.
