I was riding in a limousine with PRESIDENT BUSH when we noticed the driver of Bus Number XXX displaying his middle finger out the window at us. We, PRESIDENT BUSH and I feel that you will probably want to apply a severe disciplinary action in this instance. Right?"
Yes, Jim. You're correct. But what is the larger issue? It is petty, and does speak to the defense, or rather, the desperation to hold some shards of respect toward the W. But to me, it's the issue of flipping off W in front of kids. Respect? The W has to first have respect to maintain any semblance of respect.

But if partisan politics is being allowed in this incident, all anyone needs to remember is while (figuratively) one side of the isle flips the bird at the POS, the other icovers for the sexual misconduct of one of their own to teenaged paiges.

In this situation, yes. A construction worker could probably get away with flipping someone off. Someone who works with our children every day has to be held to a higher standard. A teacher who flips off someone while in a classroom full of students should be fired too. A schoolbus isn't "off site", it is a mobile extension of school property.

I really can't see how this is that hard of an issue.

Correct!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Studds

Gerry Eastman Studds (May 12, 1937 – October 14, 2006) (pronounced /ˈgɛɹi/, hard g as in get, rhymes with merry) was a Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts who served from 1973 until 1997. He was the first openly gay national politician in the U.S. In 1983, he admitted to having had an affair with a 17-year-old page in 1973 and was censured by the House of Representatives.

Really, I think unless it is clearly defined as conduct deserving being fired, one would be given a few days on the beach for this and made to apologize. Would not that be better?

Rick, the off site was in reference to a coworker of mine called in by the security manager for flipping him off on public streets.

That wasn't exactly the case I was talking about, Byron. I'm talking about your Floridian rep. who went down in flames a couple months back.

But you knew that, didn't you?

And if you remember, unlike the POS on your side, he stepped down, and no one has said that he had sex with them, but I still feel that foley is a POS and I hope they lock him up with big bubba, who uses icehot as ass lube
Of course, your side still has a former KKK grand dragon or what ever they call their leaders, and how can any one forget the drunk driver who left an intern to drown

We just recently had a Husky football player suspended from the team for stealing a cab. The Athletic Director then felt the need to make stealing cabs "against team policy" to clear it up for future Huskies.

I'm sorry, but this is a very steep and slippery slope that no one should ever want to get on.

I missunderstood. In this case, wholey innappropriate. It had nothing to do with work and was not on company property.

Now on to Supe's "tattletales". Agreed, there are few lower in society. One that is lower, however, is the one that hides behind their employer's skirt while provoking and insulting others. Like I said earlier, provoke or insult me, and I will settle it with you if at all possible. Just the two of us. Peacefully, I hope, but not necessarily. Hide behind momma's apron, and I'll tell your momma so she can deal with you. Especially if you are a public employee, and that momma supports your cowardly ass with my money. And even more especially if you have the gall to do it in front of young kids.

Hey, wait a sec...

Lemme get this straight.

Tattletales are lower than low to Supe, but WHISTLEBLOWERS....now there's another situation entirely. They are model Americans...

Byron, no. I think firing him for this was out of line.
Give him a few days off without pay and he 'll think better of it next time and you don't have to pay to train someone else.

I was just back in Florida up by JAX most of last week, but left just before the gator bowl.

I find it strange this is being made into a democrat ve rebublican thing.

I'm liberal by Canadian standards, and I think this guy got what he deserved. You don't flip ANYONE off while you're on duty.

But I think Superman is right, it's very petty if someone from the administration called it in. They must have more important things to deal with.

Having said that, if I saw a bus driver flip someone the bird, I would probably call it in.

Steve, you should have PMed me, we could have had a drink, please do you next trip back. On the firing, what cost more?? Hiring someone new or losing a contract because of someones actions, on your time??

the difference between a tattletale and a whistleblower is the severity of the offense, don't you think? Or perhaps the intent of the "tattleblower"?

No, the difference is how the person talking about the issue wants to spin it. To the corporate executive, the person is a tattletale. To the media, they are a whistleblower.

There is no difference, except the bias of the individual assigning the name.
