No game here, it was a real accident. Look at the impact points and wing into the tree. Would love to find out the real story but this was no prank.

Joe,
I'm with Pat on this one...I had suspicions from the start: Way to conformal without scarring marks. The physics are wrong as well. No way a limb that size doesn't fracture given aircraft velocity and weight...phenominal forces on impact. I never went to the Naval Safety Center for accident investigation, but I have been the President of two mishap investigations at the Class A level...if I'm wrong about this one the beers on me later this month if you're in AZ! I think it hit a tree per the report, just not this tree. |
maybe they hung it on a big crane, and swung it in that tree , wrecking ball style...

Edit: NTSB will not generally leave wreckage in place...given the fact that the engine is gone is a key as well. YFNMMV. |
if it's a real impact, and i'm verrry skeptical as well, the pilot is to be commended and probably would have survived this impact. it would have had to be going so slow as to below stalling speed (i know, i know..it couldn't) and stalled at just the precise moment. i think 'god' would have had to have had a hand in that tree landing...lol

don't fighterjets have some kind of thread/yarn thing hanging in front of the cockpit/windshield??
can you explain what exactly that does? is visual aid for stall? or spins? |
so we can 'spin yarns' about our flying war stories, stijn... ;)

knock it off you , i've flown too, had my hands on the stick when my dad flew a couple of times ,i just never got my licence(it's very expensive around these parts), or owned a plane myself ...and i yelled for more instead of puking when i went up in that Pitss Special..
so what is the friggin deal with that frigging yarn thing... |

It's a low cost angle of attack indicator in some instances. Depends on where you put it. |
