I think Don may have hit it on the head. He was fine on Sat.Now he had TPLO surgery when he was only 2 years old because he blew the ACL's out in both his knees. He has good and bad pain days so he has a script for Rimadyl that we use sparingly for his bad days. I took him and his little brother out for the day in the field and because the deer are all over these days they really overdid it. He was hurting bad and could hardly walk on Sunday morning so I gave him a half a dose (50 mg) of it. Now he has never had this reaction to his meds like this but going to the Rimidyl nightmare pages posted he has all the classic signs of the toxic reactions they describe. I'm gonna push the water and stay up with him as long as I can to watch over him. Thanks to all you who have expressed your concern. I have been posting on this site for years, yet you all never cease to amaze me with your friendship and compassion. I can't thank you all enough.

Oh man - goose bumps on my forearms reading that.
Goddamn Rimadyl/Pfizer!!!
.
My Augie was on it twice daily - small dosage...can't remember what though.
He was a year out of 12 months of chemo for lymphosarcoma; a great recovery, but then developed an unrelated and inoperable oral tumor. Rimadyl for pain.
One night I had him in my lap, he was just drained...I thought he was played out from the pain. It was just a few days after beginning Rimadyl. I turned the light up brighter, looked into his face, and there was no one behind those eyes.
.
My g/f immediately went online to search - an eye-opener. Nightmare pages, as you said.
Anyway, tossed the med and within a day or two, he was good.
I hope the same for Henry.
.
I too will pray for you an your pup.
Rub his tummy for all of us.

Hope your boy gets better.

We had to finally put one of our labs down on Friday, she had gotten to the point where she just couldn't walk. She had no strength in the hind legs. It was the first time I had to actually be there while they put a dog down, my dad always took care of that when I was a kid. It was really hard, actually much harder than I expected. Things are going ok now, my wife hasn't cried in a couple days which is good and we seem to be moving along with life.

Good luck.

Hi All,

He is slightly better this morning but still will not eat. He pissed out his butt a couple of times early this morning so I think we may be seeing some "clearing" of the system. I went over to the vet across the way this morning and told her of my situation. She will be seeing him at 1:30 today. We are hoping for the best. Believe me I will keep you all posted. Thanks again for all your concerns. It was a long night.

Prayers your way. Our dogs are part of the family, and it always hurts to hear of someone having a problem like this. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I hate to see an hear that the BIg Boy is hurtin...scratch his ears and give him a kiss on the nose for me...

I continuily worry about my Girl, she is 11 yrs and 7 months..she has lost a step..ha a small one...yet she is alert as ever, even though her fur is turning gray. I give her 3 milkbones in the morning for Breakfast and she trots away on her tiptoes just as she has done since a pup.

Go to your vets office and tell them the dog is vomiting. We had our Choc. Lab checked out with similar symptoms. They gave us some pills to settle her stomach. I also got some canned food from them I think it was Science Diet and it was for upset stomachs as well.

It helped a lot she stopped vomiting and after 24 hours was her old self again.

It might be a coincidence that she got sick after her shot.

This sounds similar to what my last Golden experienced.

He had Lyme (despite vaccinations) and it did a number on his kidneys. Symptoms are drinking copious amounts of water and lethargic behavior. The waste is not expelled from the body and slowly poisons them....hence the run down behavior. As you've done, a rice/chicken/lamb diet will help. Some also flush the waste by introducing saline intravenously under the skin at the back of the neck.

A blood test will determine what’s going on.

Best of luck to you and your handsome pup.

Ok here's the update. He is hospitalized. 107 temp.(running about 6 degrees hot) They think he may have an intestinal infection from eating deer crap or some other infected stuff out in the woods.(dumbass) At this point that is only speculation as we are waiting for the blood work to come back tomorrow. They have him on an IV with two bags one is an antibiotic and the other is saline to get fluids into his system as they believe his kidneys have shut down. The bright side is he crapped all over the vets office when I was gone. His brother keeps looking for him and it sure is quiet around here tonight. I will let you all know what tomorrow brings.
