Dealing with breakup, advice?

I was curious if anyone had any tips for dealing with a failed relationship. Seems as though many of you have been through divorce. I imagine my current situation would be similar.

I’ve been trying to be proactive about it, went out running, played guitar for a bit. I was wondering if anyone had any long term suggestions. The hookers and blow angle has been covered.

As a worst case scenario reference - see a previous thread of mine "Tough ultimatum from spouse".

It´s a horror story.

livi, geez, thats bad.

I was wondering if any of you had coping strategies, specifically. I'm trying to avoid the pills and booze route

Well, there is no easy way to get through it. Time will make it better.

One bit of advice I was given (that actually seemed to work) was to concentrate on the bad times together and not the good.

Spend lots of time with friends and family. Stay away from the booze it only adds fuel to the fire.Stay away from women for awhile. You will be to eager to fall into a commitment and get yourself into trouble again. Never forget that only YOU can make yourself happy. Give it time and your wounds will heal. I have NO doubt. Good luck to you during your healing process.

I notice you didn't use the word "divorce."
Were you married to this gal?
Any kids?

If the answer to both is "no," and you are over the age of 16, your solution is simple. Stop being a pu**y and move on.

The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else...

During a similar time, I basically hit the gym every day after work, to make sure I didn't have much idle time to think about schit...

Right now I'm going through a recalculation of child support payments. If you want to get together, I can tell you all about it. Guaranteed to make you feel better.

Man don't do the booze and drugs thing. It will NOT help your situation at all. You need to be clear, clean and credible right now. I did the booze and drug thing and all it got me was a lifetime membership to AA. Don't do it. Pay attention to Boboli's advice it is sound as hell.
