Anyone else laughing at CT?
I mean, Lieberman lost his own primary and still retained seat in the senate! How pathetic is that?
![]() ![]() Not only are the Republicans a bunch of crazed butt-dart-planting, warmongering, gay-bashing, pedophilic, palm-greasing, meth-headed Christian fascists, but the Democrats are so stupid they're being beaten by THEIR OWN CANDIDATES! Are the inmates in charge of the asylum?

LOL, me a "lefty"--if you mean "southpaw", then yeah. Otherwise, you're way off base, bub.
And I was referring to the elected officials. Not the Joe Sixpacks of the world.

Well, i assumed after that hate-filled diatribe that you opened the thread with that you surely do not ID yourself with the repubs.
Was i mistaken? Or do you feel that only repub politicians suddenly develop all those character flaws upon taking the oath of office. ![]() PS-- southpaw here too. ![]() |

Funny I have yet to hear in the media the obvious reason why Lieberman won: he got about 80% of the Republican votes--or votes that would normally go Republican in a 2-way race.
The Republican got 10% of the total vote (!) against Lieberman's 50 and the Democrat's 40. The Republicans voted for Lieberman figuring they would keep the Democrat from winning. Trouble is there were two Democrats running. Lose-lose for the Republicans.

![]() Glad to see Joe L keep his seat, especially after HIS party tried to screw him. Now to get Teddy and Kerry kicked out. That is the state in the NE that is so mired in re-electing asswipes that I am ashamed to call it part of our country. Teddy needs to retire to the closest bar and Kerry retire to France and let some new blood into the frey. Aaron... "butt dart planting" is a new one to me! Need to start a Wiki page on that! JoeA

You mean like this?
![]() I have friends in Mass and even they cannot understand how these two idiots keep getting re-elected. The good news is that God will have a discussion with Teddy when his time comes. There will not be any appeals to the decision rendered...

When he was up against Mitch Romney, I went over the issues with my (now ex-)wife. She agreed that Mitch was a far better candidate. She voted for Bozo the Kennedy. I asked her why she did that and she said: "We're in Massachusetts. You have to vote for the Kennedy. It's a tradition."

I don't know what the initial rant is about. It's purely a feature of our politcal system that in order to win a primary and get a party's support, a candidate has to appeal to their party faithful (in this case the liberal wing of the Democratic party), since that is where the numbers are within the primary. But in order to win the election they need to appeal to the center where the overall majority of voters are.
That's the quandry for any politician in this country. How to appeal enough to the party faithful -- without saying or doing anything that would burn their bridges regarding the centrists, independants and cross-over voters in the center. I'm not judging the system -- it's what it is. It does manage to allow the center voters to swing elections by swinging a little left or a little right. Overall, I think that this is a good thing compared to the other common democratic process which is the multi-party Parlimentary System (like Italy or Israel) which results in the smaller radical parties exherting an out-of-proportion influence on the system since they wind up being king-makers. I'd rather have the center being the swing votes then the extreme. Back to Lieberman, he got screwed by the Democrats for not being Liberal enough. He believed that to get elected in Connecticut (where I was raised BTW), that he needed to run towards the center. So rather then the Democratic Party screwing Lieberman, I think that he taught them a lesson in how to get ahead in politics. Personally I'd like to see more democrats like him swing towards the center rather then the left. The democrats would have a lot more long-term success -- especially in Presidential Elections -- if they put up more candidates like Lieberman and fewer like Pilosi. BTW, My Dad is left handed, but I was never blessed with that gift. PS: Romney's name is "Mitt" Romney, not "Mitch" Romney

John,
It's true of both parties and demonstrates the problem due to the primaries. To wit, the wackjobs (on both sides of the aisle) get too much of a say in what actually happens in this country. This has hamstrung the process.

always follow the money, it tells were the true support is from. Ned put in sixteen million dollors of his own money while Joe zero. Also, why vote for someone in the primary if you think they have overwhelming support? Joe's faithful said why bother he has it locked up.The republicans said the same by fielding a true nothing candidate. He also should have dropped out for a stronger republican option but did not. The republican party instead did nothing! All this and we were one of the few to send a republican incumbant back to congress. Dianne Farrels compaign was backed by Clinton and Paul Newman yet votes decreased in demcratic large Bridgeport.
