The first thing I thought of when Michael Richards called the guy a cracker was the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Mmmm, eggs, grits, biscuits...

bt1211 12-08-2006 08:26 PM

dhoward that came from a real moment in TV history. A little old white lady was put on to sing some songs she had written. No one bothered to ask what kind of songs she had written. She went on the air live to sing her songs. That was her first song before the engineers dumped the feed.

The SNL skit was changed because they thought Garret Morris version was funnier.

And she wasnt singing about killing all the white people I see, It was kill all the n****** I see.

This is a stupid thing to even discuss. Racism in some form has been around since the beginning of time. Anybody ever hear of tribes. Come on let's move on there's nothing to see here.

You guys would love spending sometime with one of my current flight attendents. She is from South Africa and absolutely hates blacks. Well, I should say that I use the term "blacks" as she has a whole lot more and "colorful" group of words that she uses for them.

Considering that their experience is a lot "fresher" than ours is with keeping the blacks "in their place" (her words) its not surprising the feelings are this way. Her parents live on a farm outside of town and bother no one. They have had several friends murdered by the locals after they tried to sieze their farm and possessions and its almost a war going on there now. My F/A has moved out of SA because of this because she feels that there is no future in South Africa for the whites now.

You ought to see how much Chinese folks hate Japanese folks. Palestineans and Jews got nothing on them in the hate dept. Everyone's a racist in someone else's view. There's no escaping the label, so I proudly wear it. Yes, I think it's wrong that people get jobs or admitted to schools based on their skin color. So that makes me a racist to those who support such policies. I sleep pretty well at night anyway.

Lets don't leave out some of my fav's. Very well funded Fed, State and Local focus groups taking revenue from the most productive elements of our society and using it to artificially enhance the success of the least productive elements in areas such as education, home and business ownership. It is racism, it is repugnant, it is wrong and it is politically correct.

"You ought to see how much Chinese folks hate Japanese folks."

Rick,
Not sure about the Chinese in your area, but it might just be local - but may be more prevalent in China than here in the US. Are you observing from outside or inside one of the above groups? Here in the US, maybe it should be "some Chinese". I realize some people still harbor ill-will toward the Japanese for the atrocities in pre-WWII Nanking. That's a lesson for every country that invades another or a group of people that subjugates another group of people. Memories fade slowly; sometimes not hardly.

We are all racists by evolutionary heritage. Like any other creature on Earth. Selfish genes and all that.

Slavery has been a popular way of living in the ant society since long before the dawn of man. No significant reason why we should be different. Which we have proved obviously..

I'm talking about Chinese IN China and those who've only been here for a few years. My GF is from Nanjing and there are so many in this area from Nanjing that they have their own BBS with a LOT of members. But in Mainland China, no one is hated more than the Japanese. It runs as deep as any hatred anywhere else.

Minorities need "special rights" because they feel they can't compete in a "white man's world".

just wait until Hispanics are the majority in this country - then we'll see how many rights that whites will have.

Nathans_Dad 12-09-2006 07:16 AM

To look at this another way:

Will blacks in America ever truly reach their potential as a group if they remain indentured to the white man? By this, I mean that our government, largely populated by whites, has instituted policies like affirmative action which tilt the tables in an effort to "level" the playing field. As long as black leaders continue to rise through the ranks by the good graces of the white power brokers, they will never truly be "free".

The black community would be much better served by telling the white man to shove his parsimonious attitude right up his white ass and make their own way in the world.

Anytime. Take I 80 west to 60 and head south to New Castle. Call me when you get there and I'll talk you in. See you in the morning.

I saw a t-shirt on a black girl here in town once that said, "The blacker the college, the sweeter the knowledge". There are three colleges in our city and two of them are "black" colleges. It seems that black people want to separate themselves from white people sometimes.

Read through this thread and man, there are some weird ideas out there.

Shouldn't every reasonable person KNOW that the color of your skin has NOTHING to do with your character? That there is so much more in us that is identical than differs. Every reasonable person regardless of color or national origin loves their children, aspires to better things, bleeds when cut, hopes for a better tomorrow. Kumbaya? Yeah, so what? You DON'T think our better selves shouldn't see things that way?

Perhaps the only lasting value coming out of the debacle that the Rodney King's episode in America was IS his anguished, tearful cry, "Can't we all just get along?" In that he was/is right. Why does everyone it seems, have to be such haters, such "scaredy-cats"?

You get nervous, offended, upset because another person pronounces a word differently than you do? Eats different foods, enjoys the company of other men and women that he feels he will relate to better? I don't see how any thinking person could SLIGHTLY entertain the idea of disliking another for their skin color.

Incidentally, (and this oughta make a few of the haters -regardless of color - spring up) being Hispanic is not a different "race" than being "white" - whatever that means. Any more than being Greek or Italian is. It is a nationality thing, not a race thing. Blast away, call names, tell me how immigrants (no, I'm not defending illegal immigration) THREATEN your way of life but your forebearers coming here didn't. Go ahead, tell me.
