It's the same old axe. Been through three heads and seven different handles over the years, but it's the same old axe! |
Just to add some points of reference on the current Lola T70 conversation.

The best thing to do is to find a copy of Starkey's Lola T70 book- it has a very extensive history of most of the cars
Dean Moon (Moon Eyes- remember?) had a gorgeous black T-70 roadster (without moon hub caps !) that he drove on the street. It had an add on rectangular piece of safety auto glass with some weird model t like windshield wiper set up to be street legal Stan (remember him Kevin) also had a T-70 coupe that was intended for the street. Unfortunately he got ill and passed away before it was finished (Luckily he had enjoyed a Black74 carrera that was RSR's with 11 and 13" Fuchs which became Tom Linton's car that we raced against in POC with the evil cockaroach< hey, had to get some "look at me " content in there! ) Was this coupe the one that hagerty bought? Then Ed Bohanon had his silver- red striped T-70 coupe (or was it a T-160 - the same looking car with different suspension) that terrorized PCH and the malibu hills for a number of years. Add in the Sanett brothers with their 2 coupes ( I think John Mason finally rebuilt the tub to one of them recently) So Cal had their share of evil "street legal" race cars Lotsa sharks cruising the roads ! |
History of the Haggerty T70 as recieved from the current owner:
The history I have so far is: 10/09/1975 Thomas Richardson sold the car to Guiseppe Santa Cesa for $5000 17/06/1977 Santa Cesa sold to Dan Haggerty. Dan Haggerty had the original chassis re-skinned and the fuel pods decreased in size. 08/02/1984 Dan Haggerty had to give the car to his wife 06/07/1985 Diane Haggerty sold to George Valerio 09/10/1985 George Valerio sold the car Charles Haines CanAmRace Cars, St Louis Chales Haines has been very helpful in providing some of the information above to confirming its original origin. 21/12/1985 Charles Haines sold to Peter Kaus, Germany 01/09/06 Peter Kaus sold the car to Keith Newcombe, England |
I recall a "Mike Bohanon" who had a Lola. He was featured in the "New West Magazine" article about "The Bonzai Runners" with Dan M , Ward and others.

I recall both a Mike and John Bohannon. They both played in the adrenalin junky crowd back in the 80's. One had a Lola and and the other I think was into Vettes. One or both were "studio guys" which explains the Haggerty connection. I think John B was also a fiberglass guy doing Mako's or something? One of them used to store cars at John Schneider's (Dukes of Hazzard) shop over at Riverside and Pass. |
. In 1973, Jon sold this coupe to the famous drag racer, Eddie Hill and last Friday, I brokered a deal between Eddie and a European customer of mine, who bought this wonderful car; Certainly the best kept Mark 111 I have ever encountered.
Below are a couple of photos of the car from Eddie Hill. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...uartereyel.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...LolaMay907.jpg Kurt O.[/QUOTE] Eddie's Lola was a fixture here in Wichita Falls, TX He bought a Ford GT (gulf livery),. an Ariel Atom and an Ultima Can Am. One great thing about this thread is if you stay around long enough you will have the answer to every car question ever asked that isn't mainstream.. Thanks Kurt. I love it!
Csaba Csere (Chubba Chedda) would be envious! |
Kevin,
I have spent more time at Joe Factors than you could possibly imagine. I miss him. He has not been well. Luky took over the business and opened up her own store a 1/4 mile and across the street from the old location. Still the same metal except called Luky's Hardware. I was just there two weeks ago hunting down some grade 10 aerospace bolts. My past is haunting me |
No doubt Joe was a charactor. I made the mistake one day of asking him where something was located........ never made that mistake again.

Last evening I was invited to the showing of the newest, most awesome racing simulator. It was being introduced at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The details are below. If you have the chance to see it, it looked impressive. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1192813520.jpg A computer-controlled electro-magnetically actuated full-motion system combines with tactile transducers, force-feedback controls and state-of-the-art audio and high-def video systems to create a startlingly realistic experience - audio, visual and tactile excitement available heretofore only in professional simulators costing many times more. FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE You’ll feel every sensation of the car you’re driving, be it a vintage, modern or F1 Ferrari (and other lesser marques, too, of course). Accelerate, Brake or corner hard, you’ll feel it. Hit a bump, aquaplane on water, drop a wheel off in the dirt or just get aggressive with an apex curb, you’ll feel it. The CXC Motion-Pro II Simulator is designed to be easily user-configured. For the pro or serious enthusiast, the difficulty level can be set high, a choice of clutch and gearshift modes made available, as well as complex - and authentic - setup options to fine tune every aspect of the chosen vehicle. For novices and promotional use, everything can be dialed back and simplified and shifting made automatic. The simulator can be set at any skill level between professional and novice – and the settings ‘saved.’ Software options enable a user to drive virtually any car on any track. And with a high-speed internet connection, multiple users anywhere in the world can compete in real-time. Whatever your skill level, whether you’re looking for a learning experience or the ultimate thrill ride, come drive the next step in racing simulations. It will move you. Join us for an eye-opening evening of rides, demonstrations, food and libations. Thursday, October 18 Petersen Automotive Museum 6060 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036 6:00 to 10:00 PM |
