And here's one from 2003 after it was restored for use in a TV show.
There are a lot of pics and info about this vehicle at: The Damnation Alley Landmaster Page http://www.snowcrest.net/fox/landmaster I'm not sure, but I think that's a "Logan's Run" vehicle next to the Landmaster. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1193770414.jpg |
Great thread, lfot. Are there any pics of Bannings chop top as it sits today on this thread. Sorry but I didn't want to go thru 112 pages;) If so do you know about when they were posted (page #)?
Thx jim |
I think I recognize that place. Is it on cahuega next to the 101? Did it have a 70's style custom van (White/Blue)that was for sale for years?

Yes the little pod on the right is from Logan's Run (TV Series). It was later modified for some other movie with the turbines added on the side. I used to also see it in Malibu when they filmed in the Las Virgenes/ Tapia park area. It was pretty beat up. I only watched the show because I had a crush on Heather Menzies who later became Robert Urich's wife. Don Moffat played "Rem" and he is a really great person and actor. |
Does anyone know a fabricator named John Mason? Or perhaps any idea on how to find him?

That sounds right
Thanks, Jim |

Keith is having a problem finding some of the players who had a hand in the car before Dan H took possession. He is also trying to find more pictures of the car while it was a spyder. Turns out that Dan McLoughlin had very little to do with body conversion . Any suggestion on Lola fishing holes would be greatly appreciated. |
Bob's Big Boy tonight?

Ciao! Dave |
Here we go!

Here is the first Video from 1982 appropriately named “Mulholland Maniacs”. Look for Grandstands before the big change and Bowmont Dr. before the gates. Can you identify the man with the LAPD hat on? Can you tell where on Mulholland the little Pinto does that hilarious hand-braker? Dave Barry is the writer that did Thunder Road for New West Magazine. Thunder Road became King of the Mountain, the movie. In the bottom of Carls turn does anyone recognize a car or two? This was a lot of work but well worth it. This came from the multitude of old Beta tapes that I’ve been storing for the past 25 years. I converted the Beta format to DVD+R, and then reformatted into windows media and then into conversion to youtube. Thanks for the assistance Jeff. Enjoy! |

Kevin, your question reminded me that John stamped the alloy rollcage in the Carrera with his name, Mason Engineering. It's stamped right next to the drivers head on the left side rollcage brace. Here's a photo I took yesterday. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1194044533.jpg John Mason's work is exceptional. Perfect welds, perfect fitting, well-engineered, and with the quality of aerospace. No kidding, when I knew him in 1975, he was fabricating parts for NASA and US Fighter Aircraft, awesome! |

It's a classic long over due for the replay. Glad you got it posted Chris. Could probably clean up some of the lines by adjusting the tracking on the old Beta recorder and burn a cleaner digital master. Magnetic tape does degrade with time and tape will not last forever. Can lighten up the night scenes for better quality too. We'll have to work on it. It is a classic in any form. Guaranteed to stir up some memories. Good job. Was that a Cortina in the junk pile below Carls? I know someone who had one that mysteriously went away. The official story was it was rolled but we knew better........and the white haired Police Sargent was on active duty up until 1987. He was last seen doing paperwork at Grandstands. |
