Stirring stuff! Love the Falcon, likely from Alan Mann Racing. Graham almost ended up in the water. Probably thought he was back in the London Rowing Club. Amazing to think those cars could go so fast on three wheels. Back in the day I would beg a ride or ride my 10-speed to Autobooks and look at Autosport and Motorsport until Harry Morrow threw me out. I loved the photos of the Touring and Sports Car races they had. That's a big part of what hooked me on road racing.

Cheers,
Kurt O.

A little Friday diversion. A lap of old Le Mans circuit in a 956. No chicanes on the Mulsanne and great sound.

Chris, have fun tomorrow and don't forget to have a copy of the September Excellence on the seat or dash.
:D

I meant to post this earlier; I thought your car looked great in the article... that indirect, early evening light makes that silver paint look fantastic, and (for me) shooting the car that time of day says, "In a few hours, this car will be working its magic doing what it was built to do" in a way that shooting it in bright midday sun wouldn't.

I enjoyed the article, too. I thought it did a very good job of giving a lot of interesting history and details of the build of the car interspersed with telling some cool Mulholland lore.

It's be great if the L.A. region would put on some AX events, not just these wine and cheese events.

A few of us will be at the El Toro AX tomorrow.

I just tried to call you back, went straight to VM.

Thanks John, much appreciated :)

Actually they do other driving related events but I agree that they need to do more to make the club more fun.

It's too bad that you are not attending Dave, your car would be a nice addition with it's beautiful paint.

Sorry about my phone, I was up late putting a new 8 on the 2.8, repairing the paint flaws, and generally cleaning up the car for tomorrow. The car is improved.

Thanks Dave. I suppose receiving the 2nd place "Special Catagory" Award isn't bad for an old Battlewagon. ;)

Greystone

At 8:30 this morning cars arrived at the upper parking lot. Several were trailered like this exquisite 356.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251682279.jpg

Cars were led down one by one to the 4 different courtyards of the Mansion.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251682298.jpg

Each Porsche was judged by 4 judges plus a "timer" that limited the judging time to 5 minutes.

A great lunch was served to us on the terrace. Lots of ribs, barbecue chicken, tri tip, cole slaw, barbecue beans, and choice of drink. Very nice!
Thank you to the PCA for this fantastic event.

That's kind of funny you ask because although I saw no Law Enforcement to and from the event, there was a Beverly Hills Officer walking around late in the day. When preparing to leave I had to rev it up a few times because my engine was cold and needed a quick warm up to make it out to Sunset Blvd. While driving thru the entrance porticulus the Officer was in front of me walking thru coming the other way. I had to tach it to around 6k in there and he gave me a two finger, "No, No" while we passed each other. I smiled and waved back. (He was smiling too)

I happen to have taken this photo of the inside engine compartment of the 904.
It has been signed and dated by important individuals I Imagine. Make one of you can decipher who they are.

I briefly talked to the guy who brought the car for the owner. He told me that only the early 904's had Carrera 4 engines and that afterwards all 904's came with the 2.0 911 racing engines like this car has.

Look closely and see some meat poking out of the far box. Many folks had several helpings and still there was food and drinks left.
I would have come just for the food (like several of my friends did) because it was so tasty.
