Thanks, I can't believe I built this from the frame up with my buddy Mike. The real beauty is that it works even better than I thought it would. It is so much more stable at speed than the widebody Exige even with it's huge wing which is now blended into the rear deck of this "RS 211".

I took as much functional aero as I could and put it into the shaping of the body redesign. If you were to compare it to an original Lotus 211 you will notice that it is and 4" wider in the front 2" lower on the sides and 13.5" wider in the rear.
It is all hand laid carbon fiber with epoxy resin.

It now has a quick ratio track rack, triple adj. Nitron race shocks and runs on 245/17 and 345/18 Kuhmo V710 dot slicks. 1,650 lbs and 680 whp. with a short ratio Kaaz gearbox, now maxing out at 164mph vs the old 226mph

This is my ultimate canyon carver. I'm sure there are faster canyon cars out there but who cares ?

Frank

I dig all the old Mulholland pics and stories posted up. I did my share of nites between Laurel and Coldwater back in the day in Europas, Sevens and all sorts of Group Bs.

I know Dave TRE Cup from way back in the early 80's fun track days and a few runs..

But I gotta say why cross the centerline and take a perfectly good curvy road and straighten it out ? Not to mention the risk you put everyone on the road at.
That section of road was crap then and now as is the snake with squid going up and down until they crash . There are so many better canyon roads around the valley for a spirited drive without seeing the same corners over and over again, I don't get it.

I agree with this.

I drove Mulholland more times than I can count but it was always a one way pass and always on my side of the road...
The BS of saying it's better at night is better because you can see the on coming traffic head lights is pure crap on some of the corners not to mention the on coming high beams blinding you as you try to avoid them without going off the side of the road...
Every picture posted of drivers here has them all crossing the centerline, combine that with on coming traffic crossing the centerline in the dark and being blinded by high beams is just thinning of the herd...

To praise these guys is just asinine.. If you have skills you can do it in your own lane or you need a better ride..

Welcome to the Mulholland thread Ronin. Nice ride -obviously a lot of work has gone into your Lotus and the payoff well worth while.

Funny dude, making a safe pass..Now post up the pull back into the right lane and the next 5 mi, of me never touching the center line.... Seriously dude you gotta dig deep.

Let's see some more videos of the Mulholland Racers.

This is Mulholland..
Sorry for the exposure but it was a new camera and my second time driving the car after the 11 month rebuild after getting hit by a Porsche on the fwy.

gostraight 10-09-2013 10:21 PM

Didn't know who you were, so I went to your page. First thing I notice was" Ronin RS211does not have any friends yet" .... That ain't gonna change...judging by your post and cockiness....

Yeah what's wrong with the truth eh ? Having to deal with squids today thinking they're speed racer drifting in the canyons, because a group of old farts [myself included] think the good old days were so cool. This makes me wonder how the hell are you guys still breathing today, it's gotta be pure luck nothing more.

Wow... You really are "That guy"....

ronin RS211 10-09-2013 10:54 PM

Do you mean the guy that had his car wrecked by some jack off in a Porsche that couldn't make a clean pass on an open fwy.? I love Porsches in fact I've had eight of them over the years.

No, I mean the cocky jack ass that people say you are...
Wow... You had 8 Porsches, you must be loaded.... God I wish I was you...,

ronin RS211 10-09-2013 11:18 PM

Like I said I've had eight Porsches over the years just to say I have nothing against them but you seem to be the one acting like the ass for no reason but feel free to be one I don't care....

Keep up your street racing dude and enjoy your 1 mi. slice of the road....

Cheers

Thanks, but I did no bodywork to the Carrera.

The bodywork done to the Carrera was done by Don, a master craftsman who worked with Arnie V. on Ventura Blvd in Studio City.
Arnie was the previous owner of the car.

Don sloped the windshield, cut the drip rails, made the rear window flush, and clipped the front and rear of the car to accept the big bumpers.
A beautiful job! Thank you Don.

After getting the car home (while still in primer), I did some minor prep and took it to a warehouse in Santa Monica to get painted. Drove it to and fro with no glass.
What an experience. LOL

Sorry to change the subject but we have some more photos.

Much sanding is needed on the floor if the end result is supposed to look good.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381454438.jpg

Going at it with 150 grit before primer. Will use 220 before final paint.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381454461.jpg

Looking better after a lot of sanding.

This is all in preparation for painting before the weather gets too cold.

Before we can paint, the roof has to be completed.
Everything else is getting ready.

So after examining the roof-line, some observations...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381455160.jpg

Alignment is close on the driver's side.

Roof must come forward about 1/8 of an inch before tacking in place.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381455180.jpg

B pillar should drop slightly.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381455222.jpg

Close, just a little more alignment and this side is done.

God I could never put up with that noise. That supercharger whine is annoying too... ;) You just can't beat a flat six- naturally aspirated or turbocharged.

I've made passes over the double yellow in the past but I've calmed down more in recent years (not that I have been driving long). But you said you NEVER cross the line.. which is false. So don't get your panties in a bunch. If you made that pass and a cop saw you you would be ticketed. I don't race on Mulholland. I don't think anyone here does anymore. Too many cops. At night the drifters come out but I don't think anyone here is a street drifter.

I must say, you started out kind of amicable and I thought I might say hi next time I see you up there but now I see you really are like they say. Smell you later.

Sorry about that, Chris. Looking forward to more progress pics. I am still amazed you can do this in your driveway.

The passenger side is a little more off-alignment and will require some fitting.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381456796.jpg

You can see the roof-line is slightly too high over the door frame.
This is the reason we use door frames to fit the new roof.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381456810.jpg

The A pillar must come forward and down about a 1/4 of an inch.
All the windows must fit before any mig welding can be done.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1381456827.jpg

and what about the Rollcage.....

Swiss Carrera 10-11-2013 02:51 AM

Normal service resumes.......;)

This Bonin guy is just too much
