Seriously do you think you need to be in your 20's to be quick ? I'll take my 43 years of canyon driving experience over a few young guys in fast cars tryin to kill themselves to prove their manhood.

I don't drive for my ego I drive because I love to drive. I didn't build my car to be faster than the next guy, I built it to fit my driving style. It's a "sports car" in the purest sense.. Dude I'm not even pushin it.

Do some research and you will be surprised how many old geezer have serious skills behind the wheel….

As for calling a duck a duck I stick with my opinion of local duck Porsche drivers in the canyons, I haven't seen one yet stay on their side of the road when driving quickly..

What's not safe is these chuckle heads racing each other in the dark.

Flieger 11-06-2013 06:30 AM

You clearly haven't seen me drive then. Porsche drivers don't go over the line any more than Lambo drivers, Corvette drivers, Camaros, Mustangs, etc. In fact, I would say the proportion of total Porsches on Mulholland over the line is less than for other brands. I actually haven't seen much grievious corner cutting in a while. Mostly just the half a tire over the centerline in the top turn, which you can see around to know if someone is coming. Granted, mid-day Sunday there are lots of slow moving "supercars" that will still go a bit over the line even when they see someone coming.

The ones that go completely in the other lane the most are bicycles and motorcycles. And they can't give a steering input as quickly as a car so is a narrow bike really any safer if a car is coming the other way?

Anyway, here's to you, Ronin.

Feel free to salute me in person and then count the fingers you pull back..

It's funny how haters feel the need to talk crap and post pics like this all because you are proven to be the ducks you are… I haven't lowered myself to your level, I just can't get that low at my age. :D

Don't let anyone spoil a great thread. Just ignore, don't feed.

Lot of scared pussies on this board... What if this...what if that...the sky is falling.
Keep doing your thing Ronin.

I posted a blow by blow run i had on a local roadway...they tore me apart. Just a little race, no law breaking. Just aggressive driving. We have sports cars, and like to drive them fast.

I have a group of guys I ride motorcycles with, and we drive them the way you have to in congested areas...splitting lanes...hopping in the fast lane and riding hard.

These guys think Poison was a rock band...
Love the video...

It jumped the shark long ago. Now it's just the meeting place for a loser and a has been to argue about which one has the bigger dick.

If I had seen the way the A pillar of the chassis and roof fit together like that I would have given up and payed someone else. Looks very, very hard to blend all those layers of sheetmetal together with a proper weld.

I got a real kick seeing how the "experts" do it.

For something different, but still Mulholland-related:

Dave and I went mountain biking last weekend off Dirt Mul. Instead of going towards the Nike missile base in Encino, we headed parallel to the 405, over towards Mandeville Cyn. Dave noted a fossil embedded in a rock. We searched around for about 10 minutes and found another half-dozen. I brought a few back in my Camelbak as my kids are studying geology in their science class this semester.

Imagine that. Fossils of seashells at the top of a mountain range. What is now sitting at around an elevation of 1700' was once seabed.

And a picture of my dog, from when we were hiking there the day before.

Ronin, it appears you just want to call Porsche owners out and have a good argument in the Monty Python sense. So I suggest you head over here: Off Topic - Politics and Religion - Pelican Parts Technical BBS

Trust me, you will like it.

ronin RS211 11-07-2013 09:10 AM

I've owned Porsches ever since I could afford one. I like Porsches I just don't like the attitudes of most Porsche owners thinking they can race in the canyons and cross the centerline as if there were no consequence to their actions.

I could be coming around the corner at my usual leisurely pace and have a hart attack or poop my depends looking for a safe shoulder to veer onto when a ricky racer thinks he can pick apexes in the real world… After all with my geezer like reflexes it could be bad. SmileWavy

The danger of crossing the line in a 911 is that a mid arc/curve course correction and or lifting up the throttle may result in some serious wagging of the tail - or much worse. I think this is unsettling for people going in either direction.

My own 911 does tend to gravitate towards the center line if I don't chart it's path very early in the turn, pre-turn actually.

I'd imagine that the mid-engine Porsche's are better at mid turn course corrections. 914 and Boxster drivers can chime in to correct me at any time.

ronin RS211 11-07-2013 11:27 AM

Yup that's the nature of the 911, at least from the six I've owned.
