I'm sure you talked about the motor previously but I forget what you have. Does it run? I know for display there can be no gas in the tank. Maybe no oil either especially if if drips any.
Do I remember that it has carbs? If so I'm sure you prepped those for inactivity. |
Don’t want to read a year from now how some vulture talked you out of it.

Petersen Museum Transport
Upon arrival at the Museum, the Transport backed into a large Elevator opening made for Cars.
A group of Museum personel joined us for the trip downstairs. The large door opened and we found ourselves in The Vault. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680054601.jpg Shop Personel moved the Carrera out of the elevator and into the main floor of the Shop. This area is not open to the Public. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680054736.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680054833.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680054895.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680055004.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680055162.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680055248.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680055312.jpg |

Many nice Cars are all over the place here. In the public section, The Vault is crammed with rare, unique, and one-of-a-kind Automobiles.
For many of us this Car is one of the most important Porsches ever made. It was also in the Shop a few feet away. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680055897.jpg |

I can post a list of the Car's modifications if there's interest. Engine uses Bosch M.F.I. calibrated to 2.8 liters by Jerry Fairchild. |

After getting the Car into position, the Curator named Jonee gave a personal tour of The Vault.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680111965.jpg There are over 300 cars down here. I can post photos of a few of them. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112078.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112137.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112193.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112254.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112340.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112406.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112511.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112586.jpg |

Here's a couple more.
George Follmer's Car http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680112917.jpg Speed Racer and P.I. Magnum's Car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680113027.jpg |
I took a tour of the Vault once. I was disappointed because the guide seemed to only know what was on the script regarding the cars. She couldn't answer any additional questions on them.

Can you imagine what the insurance premium must be for the building and its contents ?
Mr. Banning was that discussed … while the car is there for the year. Just curious |

Petersen Museum 2nd Interview
The next day after delivering the Carrera, The Petersen Museum asked me to return to do a second interview. This time without Magnus.
This was an opportunity to improve on the first interview talking about growing up on Mulholland, how I got involved with Porsche and the inspiration to build a Car to be the fastest on Mulholland. I was to highlight Porsche and talk about why Porsche is the best car for this purpose. This interview lasted 6 hours and ended on Mulholland in the Racecourse driving a set up 2006 4 liter 997 Porsche all-wheel drive Car. Here is the crew setting up in preparation for interview. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680218775.jpg They moved the Carrera into position. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680218903.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680218963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680219014.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680219079.jpg |
Seeing the Mulholland RSR sitting next to the Sunoco 917-30 is just cool beyond words. Just awesome. Can't wait to see the exhibit.

Petersen Museum 2nd Interview
After a couple of hours we took a break for lunch. We were able to order anything we liked and it was delivered to our location in the Shop.
I feel like I got the VIP treatment. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680219925.jpg I was able to check out some of the other cars in the Shop. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680220368.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680220475.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680220605.jpg |

This was a very interesting Car called a Gotham.
It was being charged while I was there. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680221665.jpg It looks fast. Lots of Carbon Fiber. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680221737.jpg |

The film crew then did some detail shots from different angles.

The "Gotham" is a special edition, I believe, of the Koenigsegg Regera. It's an incredibly fast hypercar made in Sweden. Top speed of a mere 251mph.

Petersen Museum 2nd Interview
After the interview and close up photos were done we prepared to do video and still photos on Mulholland.
The Petersen Museum arranged for me to drive a beautiful 2006 4.0 liter 997 all wheel drive Car that was loaned by the Viktor Sitas Car Collection. It is a highly modified car with AOS performance clutch, lightened flywheel, 82mm competition plenem, Gt3 throttle body, TechArt exhaust, short shifter, kw coilovers, Tarret upper strut mounts, front RSR control arms, monoball tie rods, rear RSR control arms, 6 speed manual, R&R valve guides, CP piston set with 101mm chrome alloy steel cylinders, Carillo Rods, deep sump kit, Nitride/heat treated Crankshaft, and a few other modifications. The car was set up at the Petersen Museum with cameras both inside the car and outside. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1680368252.jpg |
