You could post it yourself if you would like to.

Of course it’s ok! We live in public now. Already posted it a couple posts back.

Not that I had anything to do with this Petersen display, but I’m very happy for you, Chris. This is a very cool recognition, and I hope they give your story and the Mul racing story the proper credit it deserves… as a piece of not just Porsche history, but LA history.

That's fantastic, Chris.

BTW, I'm no lawyer, but I'd imagine the statute of limitations for your driving antics has long expired. ;)

Very cool, Chris!

Congrats on the recognition!

Chris,

Appears you had an adventurous day with your guests Magnus and the Petersen Crew. I recall another gathering where we all got hemmed in at your home by the high centered UPS truck.

Jeff

Thank you Derek, and thank you to all who have contributed to this fantastic Thread that was started by Derek years ago.

Valuable information has been posted and saved concerning the history of Mulholland Drive which I believe was very important.

Thank you also to Dave B. for forwarding my contact information to the Petersen. for his advice, and for help getting needed parts for the Carrera over the years.

Looking back into the time capsule and realized you all turned into your parents.

Petersen Automotive Museum Preparation

In preparation for the Exhibit I have been doing touch ups, repairs, detailing, and re-polishing the Fuchs I.R.O.C. Wheels.

First I had to repair the original Whale Tail that was on the Car since the beginning. I got damaged by a Car Photographer by accident. After that damage I used the regular Porsche Decklid.

Here it is with the repaired Whale Tail installed on the Car again.

I used a special Mcguires micro-polish to get the plexiglass quarter windows clear again.

All small imperfections of black and silver were touched up carefully with a fine brush using Testors Model Paint.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679626352.jpg

All Original Glass was cleaned completely including the inside of the front windshield which is quite difficult due to the lowered rake of the Glass.
This took awhile since it hadn't been cleaned for over 30 years.

After a quick wiping down, Mcguires micro polish did the trick to bring back the incredible luster of the Magnesium Fuchs Wheels that were originally polished by DBS Metal Polishing in 1976.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679626908.jpg

You can see that these Tires are not allowed for street use. Too bad.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679626985.jpg

After polishing I used Carnuba Car Wax to really increase the effect.

Interior needed very little. Some vacuuming and wiping down of the upholstery.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679628269.jpg

Time may not permit re-polishing of the Aluminum T6-Alloy Rollcage.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679628388.jpg

The Steering Wheel could use a small repair of stitching, otherwise it looks good inside.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679628553.jpg

While working inside I knocked the rear-view mirror and it released from the Windshield.
It's been on there since 1976 and the double-sided tape that holds it on fails in time.

The lowered Roofline, Rollcage, and Scheel Nomex ultra-light Racing Seats make it very difficult to get in and out of the Car.
I'm not as flexible as I was 47 years ago when I could jump in and out of the Car easily.

I called Dave B. at TRE and thank goodness he had a new replacement Mirror Mount.
Thank you very much for helping me again Dave.

So off to TRE Motorsports to get the Mirror Patch.
It was a beautiful day for a drive.

Here's what it looked like as I pulled into the TRE Driveway.

I couldn't help but notice the beautiful Cactus at the Front Door.
Looks like Aloe Vera at the base with adjacent Echiverias. The tall plant is Cylindropuntia subulata in excellent condition. I know a tiny bit about Cactus.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679630754.jpg

There's always beautiful things inside to admire like these Fuel Stacks and related MFI Custom items.

The Shop interior is always clean and full of interesting Cars.

I love this Sign concerning Riverside International Raceway.
Always a great experience visiting here.

Here's 2 old Mulholland Racers (Dave and I) from the 70's, and both of us blessed to be alive, healthy, and still enjoying life.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679631454.jpg

Thanks again Dave and Jeremy for this important help.

Looking great, Chris!
Really looking forward to seeing the RSR on display at the Petersen.

Noah930 03-24-2023 07:14 PM

Very cool, Chris.

Anyone going to the pre-opening event at the Petersen on Thursday, 4/13?

Noah930 03-27-2023 07:08 PM

Holy moly. Saturday, 4/16, is the opening of the Porsche exhibit at the Petersen. 6-9 pm in the evening. Super VIP tix: $911. VIP: $356. General admission: $150. I guess they've been watching the auction prices for both air-cooled 911s as well as the newer GT-hero cars and expect those guys to show up.

lfot 03-27-2023 07:40 PM

Personally, I would rather go when there’s less people anyway.

Petersen Museum Transport

Last Friday The Petersen Museum Transport showed up at my house at 8:30am.
It was a beautiful cool morning on Mulholland.

The enclosed Transport was too large and would not make it down my street so Sean who was in charge helped me push the car out of the Garage and into the front Courtyard.

We needed to get the Car closer to Mulholland so after some discussion it was decided to pull it using tow straps uphill using the '73 El Camino.

Here we are turning left from Hutton Drive onto Benedict Canyon Drive.

[QUOTE=Banning;11958345]Here we are turning left from Hutton Drive onto Benedict Canyon Drive.

This experience was somewhat difficult since it has been close to me for 47 years at my house and now leaves for over a year.
