Thank you both for your encouragement, I would love to attend.
With the current health troubles my wife's family is experiencing and me being the only one in the family who can drive, I need to focus on my responsibilities.
I'm one of those who puts family first. My apologies for not attending.

I hope everyone has a terrific time at this Luftgekult 10.
It should be an awesome event.
Patrick Long does an excellent job at organizing this show and I congratulate him on his many Porsche accomplishments.

Several fires have happened in the surrounding areas. Some have been quite close to Mulholland like the one in Studio City near Coldwater Canyon and the one in Runyon Canyon below Mulholland to the south. God bless our Firefighters, they do a fantastic job protecting us. Still, thousands of acres and homes have been lost due to the crazy winds we experienced.

I took this photo from home yesterday morning of the Eaton Canyon Fire in Altadena/Pasadena area. (looking east)

An hour later it had grown in size to this scene.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1736441801.jpg

Later in the day heavy black smoke blanketed the entire eastern horizon.

Glad you are safe and hope you stay out of harms way.

Fire now at Mulholland

All day I could see clouds of smoke coming from the Malibu area and the Palisades Fire.
At 2:30pm Jeff H. told me that he could see flames and smoke coming over the hill towards the Valley in the Tarzana area.

This meant that the Palisades Fire had come all the way from the Pacific Ocean to Mulholland Drive.

At sunset I saw this on the western horizon. This was 4:48pm.

This is the same view at 7:22.

Major Evacuations are happening fairly close to me at the 405 Freeway and extending all the way to Ventura Blvd.

Best to you all.... be safe!

Lots of lookiloos out today at Grandstands, checking out the smoke to the west, like in Banning's photos. Couldn't even make a proper run with all of 'em there.

Victor Van Tress took this photo from UCLA Medical Center on 1/7/25.

He is unable to join us as he is resting from his surgery. The CRE group has been very supportive the past couple of days.

For some reason I don't get notifications on this thread anymore. So much catching up to do! Glad your house is safe and sound, Chris. We're just over the hill from you on the Sherman Oaks side of the hills, so it got hairy for both of us for a while.

Many thanks to Noah930 with helping me get my cars out to a safe location to ride out the fires. Just in case.

Meanwhile... here's a video of my M81 McLaren Mustang project. Still a Porsche guy of course.

Yes, and the beautiful lines of this particular Model year's design makes it really stand out.

Funny thing..guy comes in to my work last Friday with the last name of Rome. I ask if he is related to Bart? He says yes he's his brother. Small world. He asks how I know Bart? I replied I met him at Chris's book signing September 2006.

He says oh you were one of those Mulholland racers? He has a good memory. Knew Mitchell, Hall and a few others. Reminded me The Petersen was the old Ohrbach's Department store building. Really cool guy.

Nineteen years ago. Seems like yesterday Chris.

Time sure goes by quickly. I remember that day well. Good photo (from left to right) of John Hall, Mark Mitchell, Bart Rome, and Gary Hendrickson. Too bad we lost Gary during the Pandemic, he was a Mulholland Staple, a Regular, and a Keeper of the Lore. Gary drove a Ranchero with a big arrow painted on the side called the Ranch-Arrow and he hung out on Mulholland years after it was shut down in different areas where he would relax and read into the night sitting in his car. He was also often spotted at Bobs Big Boy on one of his big wheel old time bicycles.

RIP Chuck Miller

I'm saddened to announce to the thread here the passing of Chuck Miller. He was one of the first old "Mulhollanders" I met back in 2007, and was one of the kindest guys I ever. Always had a good story and was extremely welcoming.

Paul Kramer (of AutoKennel) was there when Chuck had his heart attack and subsequent car accident on the current R-Gruppe Treffen. These are his words from his Instagram post.
https://www.instagram.com/p/DJwVZqFRHqe/

"Yesterday, my dear friend Chuck Miller passed away doing what he loved with the ones he loved at our annual R Gruppe Treffen.

On a farm road just outside of Santa Maria, Chuck suffered from a cardiac arrest and as a result lost control of his 911 on a straight section of road. He was directly behind me and my dad. We were one of the first on scene performing CPR followed by other more qualified members. The medical emergency response was swift and they managed to maintain a pulse until he got to the hospital.

Unfortunately, he never regained consciousness.

I met Chuck in 2002 at my first R Gruppe Treffen. His mild nature, warm smile and boundless kindness attracted everyone he met. We were all his friend.

Chuck was truly loved and will be deeply missed. The shock of yesterday’s events is numbing.

Today we drive for you Chuck. Our hearts go out to his family and his huge friend network, who are basically his family. We will NEVER forget you Chuck. You were loved by so many.

Peace to you my friend."

So sad to hear Chuck has left us. Visited with Chuck at Big Willow recently. He was a great guy and a good friend. Enjoyed his company at many car drives, meets and racetracks.

Really saddened by Chuck's passing. He was a fixture at car events all around LA. Always a wealth of knowledge.

There's a Celebration of Life for Chuck this Thursday @ Calamigos Ranch.

Also went to the Petersen today with my kids to see lfot's Mustang. Thinking of you today, buddy. Didn't even realize it at the time, but of course Noah went to represent the MIRRC!
