I too surrendered to the urge to drive Mom's boat on the Hill one night. A friend of mine went along for what he thought would be a pretty innocent cruise in the hills in Mom's red/white 71 or 72 Cadillac Sedan De Ville. After pumping up the tires to a suitable pressure we were off, up Wrightwood to Mulholland. Well after drifting this beast around while trying to hang on and keep from slamming into each other on the bench seat we decided to call it a night. That particular friend never drove with me again in the Caddy. He felt my 914 was a much safer choice.

Been quiet for a few days. Have we come to the end of the road?
Never!!!!!!!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1179969067.jpg |
Where the paved road ends...
dirt Mulholland begins. (At least it used to be that way) |
We need to get some more historians on this thread. Chris, make some calls. We need John Halls take on this.

Idle thread brings humor
(Abe Gofast) “Four score and quite a few years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new road, conceived of dirt and asphalt with liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all motor vehicles are not created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great documentation, testing whether that road or any road so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We have met on the great shoulder of that road. We have come to dedicate a portion of that road as a resting-place for those who came out of the woodwork so that Mulholland Drive might live on. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But in a larger sense, we must dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave drivers, living or not who struggled here have consecrated it far above the LAPD’s power to deter. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what we did up there. It is for us the living to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who hauled ass here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us--that from these time honored memories we take increased devotion to the cause for which we came the last full measure of dedication--that we here highly resolve that we have not driven in vain, that this road under starlight shall have a new birth of freedom, and that road of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.” (Winner Churchill) “We shall never slow down” SmileWavy SmileWavy SmileWavy SmileWavy |
Mulholland revisited
Thanks guys for having a great first meeting on Mulholland. Jeff Hail and I were saying how it felt kind of like a deja vu with the city lights and us standing around talking cars. I'm sure Radu was impressed with Jason as I was. Jason gave us both a white knuckler ride thru Mulholland in his set up EVO. It has all wheel drive with three hundred horsepower. Not a bad Mulholland car. I could hear Radu getting his fun ride because the exhaust could be heard past deadmans. Thanks for the ride Jason and nice to meet your copilot. Also it was nice to see the parts from Radu's racecar for the street. Thanks for sharing all the information about your rollcage and door mods, and your rims. It was cool to see these parts. Also, to just park and talk without any questionable racing activities was just as fun as unsafe speeding.
See you next time. |

Radu- nice to finally meet up. Jason and copilot welcome to this side of the hill. As Chris said its cool to just kick it and take a back seat for a little while to talk cars. Exhaust? Deadmans? I know nothing! I didn't see anything except Radu's old slicks, doors and some cut white tubing. |

Hi Henry. Actually I sold the Tangerine 72 back to Tony. He then restored it and turned into an RS. (It was a 911T BTW.) He then sold it to a guy in Florida, but the car is here at TRE if you want to check it out. I now have a white 72. Can't keep away frome the allure of the ol' 72. Actually I found a picture of your white car out at Willow from about 20 years ago :) It would look great in the original Orange, I say go for it. |

FOG: When in doubt lights out
|
Hey guys, Chris was kind enough to send me a copy of his Mul DVD. Watched it last week and it was a great piece describing the race track. It really helped to see it "live" to put together all the stories and photos. Thanks to Chris and his sister for putting it together and sharing it with me. I am really looking forward to the full documentary someday. You are working on that, right Chris et. al?;)

Nice fog shot, those can be difficult to capture. Mulholland and the fog will always be there, they can't stop that, and remember one is invisible or "cloaked" in the fog. |
