A little harsh.

If the original video shows the lack of talent and common sense that I saw, then the result can't be too surprising.

But, he made it 2 more years and was participating in a legitimate event. I'll give him that much. It could have been me if I had that kind of money.

And that would be in spite of some 40 years of off and on racing experience. I conclude that being cash strapped most of my years has kept me alive.

i was wondering why my 3 year old thread got bumped......
he went out in a 996TT......at least he did it in style at an event, and didn't take anyone else with him......at least i hope not, do hill climb events use navigators?

I remember him on an episode of supercars exposed where he had a tuned 996 turbo that blow everything away in an autocross competition.

It's funny but I thought that I posted on this original thread. I actually met the guy while this thread was current in 2007, I saw his car in front of a cigar shop on Sunset and pulled over to check it out. He was a surprisingly nice guy, I told him about this thread and he knew about it but was not too concerned about a bunch of strangers hating on him. He said that he had plenty of people on youtube or wherever that liked his videos and that it was all in fun.

I thought that he was a little immature with the loud pipes thing but it was impossible not to like the guy if you met him in person. He started the CGT and revved it for me, unbelievable sound. It had straight pipes-- quiet as stock at idle but absolute F1 sound when he nailed it.

Yes, he was a rich guy from Vegas acting like a typical young dude with the backwards baseball cap, if you know what I mean. He was as nice as they come in real life, though. I was converted 100% from hating him based on this thread. That's the problem with the internet. It's all bluff and bluster around here and horsing around.

I never saw him again. Sorry to hear of his passing. He likely had a loving family...

The whole story seems like such a tragic waste of a life.

RIP...

As was discussed in a parrallel thread, the comments at the bottom of this link are very interesting regarding this "nice" guy:

Yes, the comments to the link that sammyg2 posted are interesting.

It does look like lady karma was waiting in the back seat for him.

Seems like the comments on the posted link reveal what most thought about the guy based upon the CGT vid. was true.

The old Ferrari hilclimb route by Virginia City is pretty damn sweet.

Sounds to be like the recently departed was a scam artist of the first degree. Wonder if he could have faked his death to escape all the people he ripped off, sounds like plenty of them.

We have been working with him regarding a Lambo Diablo in our possession. He originally owned it and broke a record at the Texas Mile. He wanted it back for sentimental reasons. Super nice guy and I am ashamed at you all for lashing out at a dead man.

FYI, he made his fortune developing Nintendo programming.

Gee, anything for a sale, right? Makes me wonder who he was conning for the money while "working" with you? Did you read the comments by those he took money from?
