You guys are only looking at Guiliani and McCain. I'm sure someone else will join the fray with a chance (besides Brownback) before the fun starts.

Two of the important aspects of Ron Paul's pending candidacy is that he has repudiated two huge positions of the Republican and Democrat Parties. First, he's completely exonerated the Southern states for their bid for self government and condemned the violent invasion staged by Abraham Lincoln in support of the centralizing state and corporatism. Second, he's completely repudiated the progressive era that spawned Wilsonian interventionism together with the fascism of the Roosevelt era.

Taken together, that makes him the best candidate, in my opinion, thus far to indicate a run for the presidency.

Pat, I said "well funded." You know, nationwide ads, big volunteer support orgainization in 50 states, that kind of thing. Most people have no idea what libertarians stand for and look on them like some crazy loons. Nationwide education about their views/platform that really reaches the average voter is lacking, too. I could go on but there's more threads to assail.

Yea right. They were not "first class" candidates. Believe me. I often voted for them (until things got too serious to do protest votes).
