Today - 2/13/2007

I got up at 5:00 this morning. (I usually get up at 6:00.)

I shoveled the driveway.

I get to work at 6:30. (I usually get to work at 7:00.)

Most people start work at 7:00. At 7:06 I get an e-mail announcing that we will have a "delayed opening" because of the snow at 9:30. Most everyone who was going to come in today is either already here or on their way here. (Many people are staying home because schools are closed.)

Chris,

Doesn't that make you feel so superior.

"Hah! Weather or no weather, I'm here and all you wussies and pussies are dragging in late!"

I don't have to do that thing anymore, but I got up at the usual time, had to thaw the water in the barn, for the horses and spent an hour on the Kubota, blowing snow out of the worst section of the (1/4 mile) driveway so the missus could get to school. We haven't had any storms here, just "flurries where winds blow onshore" and they tend to pile up snow here and there where it can drift.

Oh well, in another 3 weeks, it will be pretty much a memory.

Keep your shovel waxed.

Les

...reminds me of an 8:00am class I had in college, when class was cancelled (frequently) the bastardo would just have his secretary put a sign on the door where class was held. Real convenient to walk 1.5 miles to find out that his lazy a$$ couldn't make the drive...

Looks like the forecast has been revised from 5-8 more inches of snow to 12-15 more inches. The late morning/early afternoon break in the snow isn't supposed to happen at all now either. I'm also hearing rumors that we may be officially closed today (we're still not officially open yet). I've got half a mind to go home at 11:00--or when the announcement comes down that we are closed for the day. Whichever comes first.

Some of us have to be at work rain shine, snow, sleet or Godzilla.. Some days I hate running a datacenter.

Steff's school system did the same thing a few weeks ago.. called school at 7:15 when half the kids were already at school.. so what do they do? Bus them back of course.

Well I'm in sales. Office was closed today but I went out to see my accounts in town. Heck, it was'nt bad, only about 5 inches, but lots of icey roads. I can now say "I went in when others stayed home". What else to do except search the web,(like now) or work. Heck, when you love what you do, its not work. I just love golf too, but that has to wait.

Yeah, I noticed the "cloudy with a 70% chance of Godzilla" forecast for NC this morning. If it's not hurricane season, it's those damned Godzillas.

Tho' I'm leaving Upstate NY sooner than later, I will say that it is nice to have no credible threat of (i) hurricanes; (ii) earthquakes; and/or (iii) Godzilla.

There's a whole bunch of those damned Canadians too close for my comfort, but they're mostly harmless.

I have no problem taking a 'Godzilla day' if need be....people around here can't drive through monsters anyways.

Hey JP.....

Them are fighting words......after all, I have a slingshot, I almost have a passport......and in 3 or 4 weeks I will have enough money saved (after taxes) to buy enough gas to drive down there and tell you a thing or 2......lol.

-20 this morning on the metric scale, and a fuch-load of snow on the way today apparently......I know you upstate NYers get more than your fair share.......

Of course if it stays this cold, I could just walk across the lake soon......

My day was great today. Woke up at 730 for my 8am class, walked over to my laptop, checked the email, saw that 8am class and 930 class were cancelled, went back to bed, slept til noon, saw that 2pm class was cancelled, ate lunch, watched top gear clips on youtube for 2 or 3 hours, did 2 hours of homework, posted on pelican
