For the second time today...zipping up Nomex flame suit and strapping in...

Let's get back to the original post here. No need to get into the tastefulness of a 2c ring . I mean really, the fact that wearing a ring like that which says "I like jizzing money into the wind for no apparent reason, and no it wasn't for love" has no bearing on this . Your looking at a '74 to 930 conversion! Aren't there a bunch of threads circulating around about how POINTLESS this is?!

Motion, to do this right (snicker), you need a
complete motor/tranny ($6-8k??)
suspension, brakes, $4k??
wheels/tires, $3.5k??
oil cooler, .6k
blacked-out trim,body conversion 1.5k
looks like whole damn car needs a resto/paint 5-10k
..what you need to do is ditch the car AND the woman. No, sounds like you deserve each other. "Pity poor me" indeed. WTF?!

Cheers on your marriage, hope you sign a pre-nup.

Thought you guys would appreciate this... even though I'm going to get barbequed....

Went to divorce court this morning. Marriage will be officially over on August 3rd. I have to cough up $62k for the settlement, plus about $12k in attorney fees, but at least my widebody project will be back on!

You need remedial help, my friend...

You bought her a BUSINESS. Presumably to make money. As a gesture of good faith, ask her to take some of those flower shop dollars and throw them into your car. If she hesitates, she loves neither you or the car.

Sounds reasonable to me. She fixes your car, she gets a ring. Its called sharing.

NOt to be an idiot here but......from the time of this first post Nov 2000 till now is only 16 month or so. $25K + $74K, not a good investment. Thats over $6000 a month.

Sorry about your luck, but hopefully you and maybe another person here has learned something.

I am not saying that I am perfect or anything here but, you couldn't read the signs??? Love IS blind

Sorry

I told my girlfriend up front that I don't believe in jewelery from the beginning. She doesn't like it but hey....she knows who my real baby is...
Way to go, Lee! Cindy & I just drove to Reno one weekend, got married at the courthouse, wearing blue jeans & sweatshirts, total strangers as witnesses. Here we are, 26+ years together, and still have the car we drove to Reno. Ring size, cars, blah-blah. If you're a true couple, a partnership..that key-rap doesn't really enter in...

You know, I've never been married, and also never been raped for $62,000.

Been laid plenty of times, though.

Motion, What the . . . is this the same girl who started the topic of this "Two carat" thread? When did you get married to her? 62K for a short marriage?

And 12K for attorney fees for a short term divorce! I've done several divorces and unless you mangaged to have kids, I would have done it for half the price to fund my 3.6 conversion. Oh well. I'm sure it was more complicated than we know.

Then again, the price of freedom is priceless. . .

A diamond will appreciate in value.....typically 5% a year.

Most Porsches dont.

However, if she really loved you, she wouldn't be so greedy to ask for a 25K ring.
Money and love are mutually exclusive

Just get her a nice cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts. It's the thought that counts, remember?

The data in the CD-type disc decodes easily into ASCII computer text as follows, using 8 bit binary:
*
"Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still time. (Damaged Word). There is GOOD out there. We OPpose DECEPTION. Conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)”
*
The damaged word would appear to be intended as “BELIEVE”.

Cool

My balance with women is not complicated and is based on simplicity. The most dangerous women out there is over 30 and divorced with kids. The second most dangerous woman has a "plan" and is on a mission. Therefore, find the best sex first, then see if you can talk to her in the morning and tomorrow. Then live with her for 10 years. If she is still around after 10 years she is there because she loves you and you are more important than any preplanned mission, IMO. I am very happily married to the best of them. [The bride is not the first one I lived with.]

And I thought my lot in life was bad...

Sorry about the news. You can always make more money though. Hopefully no kids involved. Just remember time wounds all heels, and this too shall pass. Don't ask me how I know

Talking Laughing out loud!!!!!

I'm laughing terribly at this whole post... cause this is how I got my porsche.

My (ex)girlfriend demanded that she have a 2 ct Dimond ring, from tiffany's no less.

I went back and forth on this, and I can't tell you how many ways I looked at getting around this. I tried talking, cajoleing.

And I even know where exactly tiffany rings are made, how to fabricate one on your own, etc.

Finally, in a fit of Retail therepy, I dumped my girlfriend, and took all that money and bought a PORSCHE!!!

I tried to even get liscence plates on it that said "Tiffany" but it wasn't available in oh.

Keep the car, dump the broad. Buy a dog. Use car and dog to get new girlfriend.

Details: (especially for you lawyerly types)

Yes, this is the 2.86 carat girl. We bought a house at the time of the marriage (3-10-01). House has increased in value around $80k in the last year, so she gets half. Small amount of debt we are both responsible for. She shut down the flower business and now works as a teacher's assistant at our kids' private school making $8 an hour. No kids from the marriage.

Bottom line: I was only on the line for around $35k, but I just don't have the stomach to drag this thing out for months and months. My attorney gets $325 an hour, hers gets about the same. $12k goes by *real* fast. I just wanted her out of the house, so was willing to give her any amount (within reason) to accomplish that. Otherwise, all my money would be going to the damn attorneys (no offense Paul). I gave her her blood money and now she'll be on her way to stick it to someone else in this plastic area we live in.

I screwed up and would give anything to turn the clock back a year, but hey, live and learn. But you have to give me credit. She started with the "get rid of that eye-sore Porsche project, and get rid of those karts, and do you really need 3 motorcycles" crap almost right after we got married.....

I still have all my toys intact.!!!

Hey Richard, you married the wrong girl...my daughter got divorced in California, and boy did she have to pay. The only thing her ex brought into the marriage was debt, and he was very talented at adding to that. But funny coincidence, it cost her about the same buks you paid to escape.

Richard,
There are quite a few comments here that border on the nasty side. I hope you don't take them too seriously. But *you did* ask for the advice (such as it is). Some of this reminds me of the Mr. & Mrs. Nostatic posts of a while ago. (Sigh)

However, this seat in the "peanut gallery" declines comment.

BTW, have any of you seen the recent story regarding Brooke Gordon, wife of NastyCar racer, Jeff Gordon?
It seems she has filed for divorce, and is now preparing to get a "miners license".
