Derek, I was taking a couple of pictures for someone earlier in the week and decided to give a twist on one of the manifold barrel nuts and it loosened right up, as did a couple other ones. I have new gaskets, but I will probably just tighten up all the nuts this afternoon for tomorrow and deal with the gaskets this week.

got the new springs installed so I'll be there.

Tightened up the barrel nuts this afternoon, cut the plastic e-brake handle off and installed a leather e-brake boot. Hacked my airbox cover in two - Can we say whoosh at full throttle! I left the frame so I can secure the filter. I'll be there, but still may stall 1 or 2 times.

Kevin brought up some friends in the 3-series from OC, Kevin (Automotive Innovations) showed in the Turbo Corvair, and Joe Payne came over from Hollywood with his stripped down black SC.
Oh, and Jeremy Cottrell showed up all of us in an old Jetta.

I followed Kevin into the Starbucks parking lot from hell after a wait for traffic to pass, looked around and everyone vanished. I headed for the nearest restroom and jammed back home.
Traffic on the run was a bit of a bummer. Too many Sunday drivers.
Had fun though.

That may be the last stand for the old Jetta. I don't think the automatic trans enjoyed that kind of punishment. She is not shifting well today. Taking very long to upshift!

Maybe that wasn't cooking brake pads that we were smellin!

Well, don't expect the "Killer Jetta" she didn't survive the last run. I think she has just become a tax write off, so..............I'll have to take the Carrera, I hope I can keep up. Don't worry guys, mine leaks like a bad faucet.

Guy, I'll be stuck in LA mid week for a couple of days with nothing to do but drive your amazing roads. How bad is traffic going to be mid week?

Is there a better time of day or night to follow what you guys are driving here?

Mornings after 10am are great, as long as you're comfortable passing the occasional gardener in a pickup. Actually, you're probably good through about 3:00pm. Other than that, after 10pm. The later the better. Let me know if you want to go with someone at night. I've admired the pics of your car for a while and would love to see it.

No time better for Mulholland, than after 12 am. :D Virtually no one on the road....... We do have deer, 'possums, raccoons, coyotes, and the occasional bobcat or mountain lion. Keep your eyes peeled late at night :eek:

I'm going to have to sit out the next couple runs. I'm going to install some front disc brakes on the car. I might be able to keep up with the crowd but having drums all the way around is just not a good feeling when the car ahead of me jumps on the brakes.

Yes, it was a good day. We have a driving tip for you. Constructive criticism (really) that we noticed from your video. I was doing the same thing, until a friend showed me different... Keep your hands at the 10 - 2 or 9 - 3 positions on the wheel! Next time you come around, I will show you what happens with your grip and then the correct position.
