My wife loves her car, she named it, wants me to install all sorts of accessories on it, etc. But then her mind can switch over to some other mode, and before you know it she's feeding the kids friable foods and sticky liquids in the back seat without a care. So far I've had to clean up a pint of grape juice spilled in the front pass footwell, innumerable food remnants in the back seat, and some weird fluorescent pink stuff on the front pass leather (candy? had to use Goof-Off). Then she's suddenly back into "I love my car" mode.

Thing is, she's better than most of the women I know. Her car is actually quite clean (not without effort). Typically, among our friends, the mom-mobile is a most disgusting trash receptacle.

(no offense to lisa, who appears to be a saint among women)
Nah - no saint I can assure you!

My daily driver is a multi-purpose do it all Van. I cart the kids, now the puppy (sweet!), the pet rabbits when they need to see the vet, the kids' sporting gear, the musical intruments, the friends and their stuff - the usual. PLUS we use it as a van for carting anything and everything; including gearboxes etc when necessary. PLUS it is our tow car...this van has hauled more stuff than imaginable. So she gets dirty and then I call my trusty detailer; cross his palm with lots of $$ and ask him to make her beautiful again.

Certain subtances are BANNED from my car - the usual illegal stuff , plus sticky drinks, sticky food and such. Apples and water are fine - nothing else.

Once when I was feeling particularly attached to my Van I decided to polish her by hand....after spending the afternoon sitting on the roof I decided it was a once only effort - kinda like painting a ceiling; it never looks as big until you start .

The worst trash heaps of cars I have seen are OWNED BY MEN! Seriously...one in particular - gives "rubbish tip" a new meaning.

But I think we girls are like good boy scouts - always need to be prepared; so we fill our cars with things that may be needed no matter what the situation. Don't open my glovebox for all manner of things are kept in there - bottle openers, first aid kits, no water required hand cleaners, moisturisers, sunblock, HEAPS of extra bandaids, tissues, god knows what else! Then there are the spare fuses, a couple of spanners, a couple of screwdrivers - you know; the important stuff! Women are expected and relied upon to always have the right item on hand - it's our job!

My friend signed the papers, pulled down the driveway and stopped at the road to be love tapped by some women. No damage luckily but what a start for his new supra.
