One Less Carrera GT in the World
I didn't see that this has been posted before, but the producer of the movie Redline "donated" his Carrera GT to the production.
They proceed to flip and spin the car then crash it over a cliff. Looks pretty real. And for the "Technical Forum" connection, is this repairable? Carrera GT Crash Video

looked fake to me but even if real expensive parts (driveline/maybe interior) are all removed first. still pretty cool.

I was under the impression that they bought a previously crashed C-GT, repaired it and re-crashed it for the movie...

That was quite the hack job. Looks like how all the "Toonces the driving cat" videos ended.

It's got the obligatory "flying off the cliff" part and it looks fake. Looks to be computer-generated or poorly filmed/edited, not sure which...

I read (they had one of the GTs for sale on eBay) that they crashed 3 Carrera GTs for the film, ad the idiot crashing the Enzo, makes the whole thing a waste

that's the problem with mid engine cars...they spin like a top. Then fall off a cliff. Then explode.

Watched one of the commercials for the movie. Put it in slow motion, sure looked like there wasn't any engine in it. One of the in the air shots from underneath, you could see daylight where the engine was supposed to be.

You couldn't get a Producer to pick up the tab for lunch, much less "donate" his CGT for a crash scene in his movie.
I was working on a film in Houston a few years back, and they were going to crash a Ferrari in the film. So, they bought a Ferrarri and took it to Houston and since the scene wasn't going to be shot for 4 weeks, the Producer decided it would be the perfect vehicle for him to drive on location. Well, 1 week passed and the scene was re-written to where the car crashed into a wall. 2 weeks passed and the car was then supposed to crash into some trash cans. 3 weeks later the car was going to crash thru some bushes. 4th week they wrote the crash scene out all together and the Producer kept the car. Must have driven really nice.

I don't mind it when actors are "killed" in movies because it's not real, but when they wreck cars, it really itrritates me and I don't want to see the movie. Just a quirk of mine...

All the "crashes" related to this specific film have been staged with fake/replicas, including the most recent Eddie Griffin "Enzo" crash. The producers are working overtime on this kind of publicity which can only mean one thing to me -- the movie really sucks.

I saw the wrecked CGT at the LA Auto Show a couple years ago and it looked pretty real to me. Of course, I didn't have a healthy one next to it to compare. Here's a pic I found of it. ![]()

My information comes from someone inside the production. But I could be wrong. But my personal experience over the last fifteen years in the film and TV biz is that you NEVER, EVER wreck an expensive car because the production doesn't ever own the expensive cars. You build and wreck the replicas production pays fabricators to produce. Expensive cars go back to their owners in better condition than they left. But wasn't this movie shot last year? How would the wrecked C-GT be at the auto show two years ago?
