F*ckin' tax collectors masquerading as cops
No, I didn't get a ticket, but I saw TWO friggin' speed traps on my 5-mile commute to work this morning. Second one pulled over a guy two cars behind me, just "in the pack" driving along like everyone else (about 45-50 in a 40 zone). You've gotta' be kidding. I guess the city revenues must be slipping with the number of overpriced home sales and building permits slipping. Wouldn't piss me off so much except who's out at 8 in the morning? WORKING PEOPLE, that's who. Yea, let's stick it to the working guys.
![]() I just ordered a V1. No way I'm getting nailed for commuting to/from work like everyone else. That's just B.S. Sorry, don't mean to create another thread about this, but it just incensed me to see it. Springtime/warmer weather is coming - watch out people. The tax collectors are at it. Word to the wise.

Yesterday I switched on my ILLEGAL radar detector after I had passed some car going about half the speed limit. Less than 5 sec. later the detector starting screaming and soon a cop came around the next corner. RD saved me just in time. These things pay for themselves.

the problem with fighting this sort of ticket is you have to go to court. To show up in court, you have to take time away from work, which is very likely not paid. So is it worth fighting it? welcome to the police state. you can't even drive to work and home without feeling paranoid about getting pulled over. that's just terrible. |

What exactly is a working person? Is it anyone who has a regular job and earns money? Or is it someone who earns less than what you consider to be excessive income?
Ditto for working families. I never knew what that meant. If you work hard, save, invest and get rich from it, you're no longer a working family?

When are you going to grow a backbone? If you were speeding and got a ticket, YOU ARE GUILTY. Pay the ticket you were breaking the law! Yes I do speed. Yes I do have a Valentine One and use it all the time. If they catch me I will "cowboy up" and pay the damm ticket because I was guilty! Stop sniveling.

Joe, you are a tool, my friend.
this is not about being GUILTY, you moron. this is about getting pulled over for driving into work like everybody else. Maybe it's time to brush up on your comprehensive skills. |

So what part of the speed limit sign did you have a comprehension problem with?
Would black on a yellow background be easier for you to read? Are the numbers too small? Speedo out of calibration?

I have a problem with speed limits, no matter how clear the signs are. EVERY single car withoug exception speeds, especially on highways. The ridiculous limits beg for the law to be broken and, since they are randomly enforced, also elicit the public's disrespect.

What do we need to do to eliminate this behavior, and push this intrusive police state back out of honest citizens' daily lives?
Very clearly, in this case, the reasonable thing to do was to keep up with the traffic around him. It does not sound as though it was going excessively fast. What "justice" is served, in what way does it increase traffic safety, to pick one car at random out of a pack like that? This driver will probably have no chance in court. Traffic courts, for those of you that have not been in one in some time, have degraded to just another extension of this revenue scheme. There is no evidence required of the citing officer. None. The state, through the officer, accuses citizens of wrong doing. The state, through its courts, tries those citizens. The state, and this is key, then judges those very same citizens. We, as citizens, are supposed to be judged by our peers, particulary when the state brings the charges. The state is never supposed to be able to convict a citizen of anything, no matter how "minor", without bringing its charges before other citizens. That is supposed to be one of our key protections from the state, enumerated in our Bill of Rights. When did we give that up? I don't care if it is traffic or murder, if the state accuses, the citizens must judge. If we could somehow get back to that, these useless, bull***** enforcements would end. And a lot of traffic cops would have to go find something useful to do.

Hey Rick...You object to driving on the right side of the road too? Seems as if that is also an infringement of your civil rights!!
Adherence to laws should be selective and up to the individual.

He wants a day glow green neon sign flashing at him with the speed limit and saying "do not speed, speeders are bad people" then it will get his attention. Where do we get people like this? I totally agree with POP that there are times where the cops are using this only to make money, but like Tervurven above I have never been stopped for not speeding.

Joe thinks on-ramp should pay his speeding tickets and shut up. He seems to support this revenue tactic, as far as we can see by reading.

When anyone is speeding and caught, why yes I do suggest that the person pay the ticket. Funny how telling the truth and not trying to squirm out of it will usually make you feel better. We just had Easter and watched the Ten Commandments. Remember those? Kinda the rules that we are supposed to live our lives by? One of them says "Thou shalt not lie"... If you were speeding and you try to wiggle out of paying the ticket, is this not a lie? What kind of example does this show to your family and friends? What kind of man are you? Someday you libs might try living your lifes and incorporating the Ten Commandments into the mix.
