I agree 100%, both with this statement and your overall stance on the issue.

My only point was that as much as comments like that bother me, I'm just as glad people like him express themselves openly and "out" themselves.

For example, there is some talk in this forum that would have people seen to the door in my house. But, this isn't my "house", and it's not my place to moderate conversation.

In this particular case, I'm sure the station & advertisers will react when faced with a potential drop in listeners & revenue.

For letting me vent a little... This thing was bugging me since I heard of it on Saturday and I really didn't have anyone appropriate to express myself with. I also wanted to say something in case it would make a difference to someone in the Pelican community who might think nobody cares.

With the Michael Richards thing, I thought he was out of line with his rant. But his "reaching out" to Jesse and Al made me hate him forever. If I ever had to apolozgize for such comments, I'd make it a point of saying such apology did not apply to Jesse and Al.

I totally agree.. There are not two more racist guys than Jesse or Al.. and yet the press continues to kowtow to them..

Sometimes we forget that only our government is forbidden suppression of free speech. Employers can (and do) suppress free speech all the time. When Imus becomes a financial liabilty due to his tongue wagging, he will be summarily "suppressed".

I think Imus is a second-rate imbecile. He'll never be a first-rate imbecile because Howard Stern has set the bar ridiculously high.

Imus is ac-dc. He likes to insult or praise on both ends of the political spectrum. He shows an arrogance of power that is becoming typical of successful talk show media types. Some people call them mediots. They are not exactly in the tradition of Johnny Carson. They think they are holier than thou. That's what cable TV has brung us.
