Right away, these moronic reporters asking what kind of "assault weapon" did the gunman have.
No sense jumping to conclusions, huh??

I'm not sure I would want my kids to go to college where classmates are packing heat. This isn't the old west, the ME or Mogadishu. This is a premeditated massacre... people carrying wouldn't have prevented the entirety of this.
I actually won't say if I "carry" or not, even despite what I think of guns. I'll only say guns seem to have become a necessary evil - like gasoline.

The gunman evidentially lined people up, asking about his girlfriend's whereabouts. Then he shot them.

If you're the parents of a monster like this...what do you do knowing that you produced such an animal?

Well, the gunman did "assault" people with a weapon. And I'd have to wonder, had I heard nothing else, how one guy can do so much damage with a 9mm handgun. I'd have figured a rifle too.

Steve,
I bought my first handgun after I saw a kid get shot and killed a few feet in front of me in Pittsburgh. I was 21 then, a seasoned shooter and spent a lot of time in bad parts of town with a lot of cash in my pocket after my band had gotten paid for our gigs. But no law in the world prevents nuts from shooting up public places and one CCW'er can, if not cut the bloodshed short, at least have a chance of fending for himself instead of going to the slaughter while the police try to figure out what's going on.

AP now reporting 31 killed this morning. How sad. They're just kids in college. I feel so bad for their families, their friends at school. It's insane. It's not about guns. I don't give a fuch about that and those who make it political just suck. How does someone just feel he has the right to mow people down like this, to take life away like this?

In Michigan, a concealed weapons permit doesn't allow you to carry a weapon in a school, church, bar, sporting event, event where more than a certain number of people will be attending, etc... The only CCW without restrictions is for current/retired LEOs.

The gunman most have suffered from a severe personality disorder, possibly psychotic and under the influence of drugs.

How in the h#ll is someone capable of executing such a grotesque dead ??

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. True, however...if this loon had a hammer, or a couple knives, I doubt he would have succeeded in killing/injuring this many people. The sad fact is that anyone can get a gun and there are too many around to start making them illegal. There will always be crazy sick people out to harm others. IMO guns make events like this all too easy. It's one thing to kill with a knife (takes guts and some degree of effort) but a gun removes all the personal contact.

What if he had used an SUV?

Don't even need an SUV. Didn't that old man who mowed down 13 pedestrians in Santa Monica a few years ago do it with a sedan? If you can't prevent accidents like that, I don't know how you can stop young, determined madmen from suicide missions.

Gun apologists

Anything, including a car, a knive, or a pencil can be used to kill. It happens that these devices are not designed primarily for killing so while able to do so in the right setting are not that effective. A gun on the other hand...

Lets get this straight. I am NOT rallying behind the idots yelling "Ban guns". I am simply pointing out a fact that guns add complexity to our private lives. There you go.

Edited to include NOT DOH!
