Most expensive watch on Pelican?

Ok, so as a watch fanatic, i just wondered how far the fascination has led you to shell out the moulah.

Capping myself at $150. Don't need yet another use of cash. Though I do love watches.

$12, timex indiglo.
It keeps the same time as the zillion dollar watches.

I feel contempt for women who are so completely consumed by shallow vanity they they value diamonds so much. IMO Expensive watches are the same thing for men.

I have a Timex expedition model I bought in Wal-Mart about 5 years ago. I think it cost me around $35...Oh...you were asking about the $pendiest watch...nope. I can't pee up that lampost high enough. Don't want to. Anything worth 4 or five figures is mugger bait, methinks. I've walked down some pretty mean streets in my life. Being 6'3" helped, but I think wearing Levis, a cheap sweatshirt, cheap tennies, and a cheap watch helped even more.

I'm a watch fanatic but I must admit; I'm a CHEAP watch fanatic! I've got about 25 watches....many of which are crap that only have worth to me because I liked them when I bought them. My Dad's old Benrus from back in the day with the scissors type flexi watch band, priceless to me. I've got a gold Seiko Bellmatic with mechanical alarm (shades of 007 - Connery style!) my parents bought me for my 18th birthday in 1972 because I was a "good boy" - again, priceless to me. The most expensive one is a Seiko Lasalle my ex bought me that I don't wear but can't bring myself to get rid of, bittersweet memories...priceless I suppose. If I had a $10,000 watch I'd be thinking of all the $25 to $350 ones I COULD have bought!

Funny how often, later in life, a thought pops in your head: "Sure...I could write the check for it now. But do I really want it? Do I give a flying French kiss about the people who would think it's cool?". The answer is often a firm "no", on both counts. Whoa, Stevo...if you made it to the annual R Gruppe function...would you take notes of those there wearing gold rolexes? The only one of those I went to? Before I left, I told my friend, a retired bank V.P., that if he wore his gold rolex, I'd kick him out of the car before I turned the key. He showed up wearing an L.L. Bean "field watch". I laughed...even then, to him, it had to be the "correct cheap watch"....

My best friend retired at age 45 after selling his company for 1.2 billion dollars. He wears a $20 black plastic Casio. Always has. Nothing to prove, I guess.

I got it after the 3rd posting!

I paid about $850 twenty years ago for a Rolex Submariner, when I was SCUBA diving. New ones are like $2200. Wouldn't buy one now.

If you can find one for $2,200, you should buy it.

And probably better! I have a Citizen Aqualand, think it was about $375 ( it was a gift). All my other are Casios and Timex. I like cheap watches that are reliable and bulletproof. No need to impress anyone.

I have a Rolex SS jubilee I've had for 20 years--probably worth around $1500. It's in the case. Wore it for years, but now I have 2 Carrera quartz watches I bought on Overstock cheap plus a quartz chronometer they gave away. All less than 30 bucks each. And they keep better time than the Rolex. Wear a Carrera when I'm driving the SC--of course.

I have 4 old Omegas, a Luminox and a Casio G-Shock. Been wearing the G-Shock most of the time lately. I don't feel the need for bling most of the time, especially when I'm traveling and don't want attention of the undesired kind.

I have a watch problem...

Got a Patek a while back that I just could not live without. Had a gold President since my Father passed, and a steel and gold GMT master for 35 years. Picked up a stainless GMT master 20 years ago for $200 and the list goes on....

Favourite? A Heuer (not Tag) Monaco in black... or the steel and gold GMT.

I used to wear a Movado, but I put it in a drawer. Now I wear a Timex Ironman sports watch. Pretty swanky for a digital, $70. The more money I get, the less I seem to care about that stuff.

Forget the watch, its the time thats valuable.

I bought my Rolex GMT Master in the PX in Nam in 1970 for $170...likey is $3000 now. A $5 Swatch keeps better time but I wouldn't part with it

Both of my GMT Masters are PX watches, as is the new band on the steel and gold version. The savings are very substancial at the PX on things like this.

Like you, none of my Rolex's is for sale, for any price.

I have my great grandfather's 100 year old pocket watch. Just needs the occasional winding.

Other than that, I have a cheap Timex

No Rolex here but I try to match my wardrobe - yes im am married so no jokes! I wear my Tag and Ebel most of the times. My 'beater' is the Marathon military watch one of the left - they are getting harder to find so I better take care of it. Notice all of the Carrera's - all owned before my 911.

I have Grandpas Gold Elgin that they gave him for 35 years at Ford in 51, he told Henry II on stage that they should give a car for 35 years service and not a watch. Daddy gave me his Omega and I bought a Date just Rolex with two tone Braclet for $1800 out the door 18 years ago. I wear it as my everyday watch and have dug holes in the backyard as well as change oil wearing it. I also have a solid gold Pocket Watch as well as a cupla Gold filled Walthams.

Other than that I could give a fk about cars and watchs. Now Spoons, thats another matter. But even there I'm getting tired.
