![]() Look, I'm just trying to point out in this "get the rich ****er"-fest that people tend to behave VERY rationally, despite what judges and juries on web forums believe. |

I'd like to hear more about how that could be rationalized, outside of "Oh f##k, I'd better get outta here" And FWIW, I don't think the reaction has much to do with them being rich. It's about being reckless, drunk and cowardly EDIT: This assumes that what we've read is true. Many of the accounts are on blogs, and many don't mention booze.

Don't lump the Dragon in with your canyon runs on the west coast.
Tail of the Dragon is a 2nd gear road, while there are sections where you can stretch your legs in 3rd gear they are far and few between. The posted speed limit is 35 MPH and you'll be hard pressed to get much over it. A typical street car goes 20-25 MPH on this road and our mighty porsches hit about 40-45 in the twisties. Our Porsche goup out there was complimented on their good behavior and display of car contol over the weekend. While other car groups (Elise, 240's and Corvettes come to mind) are publicly slammed for their behaviour.

But those weren't the circumstances, were they?
Speeding at night, you hit a car. An elderly couple is seriously injured. I want to understand how leaving the scene of THIS accident could be rationalized.

We don't know the circumstances. Everyone is assuming and filling in the gaps to suit their biases. I just figured I'd play devil's advocate and propose a more rational explanation.

I don't think getting in an accident is illegal. Last time I checked KILLING people with your car is.

All this hit and run is hitting a little too close to home. I must confess I ran over Jennifer's (My beautiful GF) cat on the way to pick her up last month
I feel bad for not telling her but I know she would never look at me the same way so yes I left the cat there and drove back around the corner and waited. Luckily no one saw me. Her neighbor across the street saw the cat and ran over to tell Jennifer at that time I came back around acting like I knew nothing. She was crying we ended up taking the cat to a emergency pet clinic where they extracted $900 from me for emergency care. To cut this short the cat lived it just had a momentary collapse of one of its lungs. Ill never tell Jennifer the truth. Im glad thats off my chest

In some circumstances, I could understand fleeing the scene if I was in danger. I don't think being in "danger" of detention or prosecution counts though.

I don't love cats, nor am I offended. Your story just struck me as bizarre.

And again, we still don't know the circumstances of the accident beyond the bloggo-rumormill. Was this a James Dean type thing? Who was really at fault? (The rich guys in the Porsche, duh. Rich guys in Porsches are always at fault.) Will there ever be a reliable, trustworthy account of what happened? |
