+1

Looks like there's an attempted cover-up underway as well.

Not excusing their actions, but let's be realistic. If you were a very weathy person, bouncing at a high rate of speed through a third world country that didn't exist a decade ago in a six-figure car, and happened to run over some locals, would you:

a) feel confident in the local legal system to protect your rights and give you a expeditious and fair trial, or

b) realize that you were about to end up in a cross between Deliverence and Midnight Express and use whatever means you had at your disposal to get the hell back to civilization?

Being an honorable person assumes that there is a social system in place that supports that honor. When you're about to be (or think you're about to be) lynched, it's not honorable to loiter around with you thumb up your ass, it's just stupid.

Sorry, but that's why you don't go to a foreign country and pull stupid ***** in the first place. They screwed up, killed an innocent man and should have had the balls to take responsibility. They’ll get exactly what they signed up for.

it was just long overdue for it's share of statistical casualties...
the formula goes something like this
ignorance x lotta money x (lack of sleep x alchohol x lack of actual usable braincapacity) x peer pressure x high powered cars

it might be that the formula could use some tweaking here and there , but in essence GB3000 had gone long enough with to little attempts to shut it down

well some moderate attempts in western Europe, they still were speeding big style, but they should just impound anything even remotely related, for 2 months and then settle the score in court, make a big hastle, that way they can't even make it across to the eastern european less enforced countries... outlaw the bastards, because the road is not a race track for organized events..

Sounds like they got lasoo-ed at the border, so they'll get what they deserve. I hope that their penalties are a lot stiffer than in the U.S. for schit like this.

If they can afford cars like that, they can afford as much private track time as they want. No sympathy. I hope they get strung up by the balls.

Several years ago the Gumball came through Dallas. My brother found out about it so I went with him to the hotel where they were staying. I have to say there were some amazing cars, but what a bunch of douchebags.

Stijn forgot one thing in his description... BLOW... they were joking about doing coke to stay up.

Macedonia is a third world country? You need to get out more man. Try northern India on for size.

I think the fault is with Gumball. Why would they run a race on a open road? Thats a formula for disaster. As far as the fatality thats part of motor racing thats the great attraction wondering who's not coming back. It aint real race'n If no one dies.

Ah...killing innocent and unwitting civilian motorists on public roads has never been "a part of motor racing"...

You didn't read the article, did you?

From what little is there it appears the gumball organizers were running the race on a open road. Why are we all shocked that this resulted in a fatality? Im sorry but since the Roman empire DEATH has been a major part of sports. There are only three true sports - mountain climbing, bullfighting and motor racing- Ernest Hemingway because you guessed it DEATH

yeah, but the drivers die. Or in rare circumstances, people who paid to watch it. Not inocent bystanders who had nothing to do with it.

Organizers and particiapants are all fools, and hopefully will get what they deserve. Reminds me of the Gilligan's Island episode where the famous hunter comes to the island to hunt human. Not sure why. Just popped into my head. Must be the meds.

Young friend of mine ust took his first tour of Europe. Was asking me about certain things involving leaving Amsterdam.

I told him, "if it's illegal here then it's illegal there, and if it's legal here it may be illegal there". Being an American Citizen is not a "get out of jail free card" Told him if he kept those three things in mind he would be fine.

Let's all go on a run over the tail of the dragon. OR the west hills of Portland, OR. OR a canyon run out of L.A. What the hell...we all need to do something! Right??? (This just offered as food for thought. )

Gee, if somebody innocent gets in the way? Hell, that's their problem...How did ol' Ernie, the guy worshipped here, die?

Yeah, 12 gauge, self inflicted. Hero worship can take some strange paths. I once thought Peter Gregg was a pretty cool dude. Until....

Gotta have respect for the time he lined the front of his 934 with styrofaom then used it as a battering ram to take those out he didn't have affection for.

BTW I not sure if that actually happened, I read it in a Panorama article about his bipolar ways.
