Motorcycle drivers beware

I used to ride, so I know that everybody you talk to has a horror story about somebody that got hit/run over/killed/etc on a bike. But this story is worth passing along:

How did "po po" ever become another word for "police"?

Why is this story worth passing along? We all know that many motorists are ignorant and unobservant and all of us motorcyclists need to ride like every car is intending to either run us down or pull out in front of us.

The van driver needs to go to the house of doors for a very long time...

Us long timer bike riders are used to it, nothing new, its just gotten worse in the past few years. Course drivers in general have gotten worse as well...

drivers AND riders have gotten worse. back when i rode full time (no car) we would split lanes in traffic only during bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic. nowadays, i see jackasses splitting lanes just about any friggen time they want. we can be bumper to bumper in 40mph traffic and some squid will still think that is not fast enough and fly past. i love the new trend of reving the motor as a "warning" to cars that they are coming past. some riders suck, some drivers suck. i call it a draw. times have changed.

...and lots of guys with fake pony-tails and clip-on earrings with no experience are out riding on $30,000 bikes with $3,000 leather outfits on. I went on a HOG ride a number of years ago for the last time. I've never seen a more un-safe fashion-conscious organization in my life! Be careful though...many of them are lawyers, so stupid mistakes won't be their fault.

Sold the Harley and bought a Porsche.

I seriously hope that driver gets the p*ss beaten out of him on a regular basis by motorcyclists in the slammer. Cripes, what the hell is wrong with some people?!?!

As an avid motorcycle rider myself, this is precisely the kind of thing that gets my blood roiling. If I'd witnessed this myself I swear the coroner would have been extracting a tire iron from that guy's skull and I'd probably be the one in the slammer today. . . Just as well I wasn't a witness to it.

Never, ever, EVER, E-V-E-R underestimate the stupidity of drivers while riding. Or in general for that matter. That said, this one is particularly amazing.

Ride safely, all.

+1 I admit that I split lanes up to stop lights. I never stop behind a car in fear of the dude behind me not seeing the stop and me becoming a sandwich.

Georgia law prohibits lane splitting even when the traffic is stopped at a light. Riding a bike here doesn't offers any advantages over being in the car.

Not just motorcycles, but pedestrians too.
I had an incident two days ago. I am making a left hand turn at the intersection near my house.
A pedestrian is crossing the street, so I am waiting. I am not in the intersection yet.

The car behind me whips out on my right, like he's going to pass and cross the intersection. Instead, he nearly plows down the woman who is crossing. As I notice he's starting to swing wide and make a left turn, I blow my horn. It makes the woman turn around to look. If she had not turned around, she would have been mowed down flat.
I make my left turn, and when I reach the point of passing him, he shoots into my lane, nearly taking off my bumper...
He does this multiple times when I try to pass him.

PO PO = Pissed Off Police Officer

As in:

Atty: So what happened on the night you were arrested?

Client: Man, I was minding my own business when I got a serious case of PO PO.

or:

Atty: Motion to dismiss, your honor, on the grounds of excessive use of force by a PO PO.

"Po-po" sounds an awful lot like "poo-poo".
