From what I remember when I owned an A4, chipping the 4 cylinder turbo will give you as much or more power than the V6, and better MPG. Worth considering, though it might void the CPO warranty.

Like I said mine is chipped. The change was very noticeable and the car was alot *brighter* from 3K to 5K. It's a slippery slope though as once you get the upgraded DV and chip you'll want upgraded plumbing, then an intercooler, then exhaust, and all that stuff starts adding up. You can make the car really fast if you want. It's no track car though and the Quattro system is from VW and is decidedly front wheel drive biased. You can of course tweak that too but then you have to start asking is this a commuter/street car or something else...
I'm undecided on the turbo. I love getting 30+mpg on the freeway at 75-80mph but don't like the power delivery when hustling. I suspect I need to spend more money on the go-fast parts I listed above but the really small rear seats are becoming a problem too. Like the 911 the TT looks unique and that is what drew me to the car. The interior is very well done and the car seems very well screwed together. It feels like an expensive car - just like the 911. You sacrifice interior room for the unique shape. Last edited by dmoolenaar; 06-08-2007 at 06:34 AM.. |

My girlfriend had one of the 220 HP models and sold it about two years ago. It was a great little car, lots of fun. They have much more interior room than you might think. Plenty of headroom AFDTER you get your noggin under the door frame. Once inside, plenty of space. We folded down the rear seats all the time and carried lots of stuff in it.
I'd own another one in a minute if it fit my needs.

As JR said, the R32 is a great car. Mine has had virtually no problems in 43,000 miles. Not nearly as stylish as a TT, but it is actually a TT 3.2 underneath.
240 hp, normally aspirated VR6, AWD, 18" wheels, IRS, huge brakes (stops as quickly as a new Carrera), great Konig seats, 6-speed....A BLAST to drive. The engine is incredible -- it pulls strongly throughout the RPM range. And the sound is amazing when the exhaust flapper valve opens up. They are pretty rare, too -- in fact, they are rarer than a TT or even a 911. They only made 5,000 for the US, only in 2004. All that & practical too. Relatively inexpensive, hatchback, decent sized back seat, 24 +/- MPG.... Check it out, unless you are really after the style of the TT. While I think the R32 looks great, it does not have the style of the TT.
