Oh What a Nice Father's Day Gift From My Teenage Daughter!

We got back from San Francisco late Sunday night. On Monday my Wife gets our mail that was on hold. I didn't get to the stack till last night. Normal stuff - magazines, bills, roadspam, adverts. I also got a small package from a company I was not familiar with. This is normal. I get books and so forth in the mail all the time.

I opened it up and to my surprise it was a 3 month perscription for birth control pills for my teenage daughter.

I guess the pills-by-mail that my insurance provider has us use sent them to the wrong address.

Needless to say I was relieved that she is on the pill, felt a little strange that she is having sex (after all, she will be 20 in a few days) and somewhat amused at the thought of sending them to her with a note. Maybe I should wrap them in Birthday wrapping paper with a card?

BTW - I have not got'n a Father's Day, Birthday or Chirstmas card or gift from her in 10 years.

Well, I guess it's better than a grandfather's day "gift"

Definitely send a note like:

"I cannot tell you how excited I was to receive correspondence from you on fathers day for the first time in a decade. I appreciate the thought and time that went into your choice of gift but I feel you would be able to make much better use of them. Thanks again for thinking of me on this day, Love Dad."

Well, you have to expect that she is having sex if she's 20. Consider it a good thing that she's on the pill.

Not getting a card for your b-day or father's day in 10 years, though? That's pretty lame. Are you no longer close?

+1 you should be relieved, not upset. It's much better gift than an unexpected grandchild.

Lendaddy's note gets my vote.

+2 to Lendaddy's idea, but include a box of condoms inside as well.

Send a note and suggest she go on the depro provera or Norplant. This way she cannot "forget" to take the pill. You want to get her past college and past 21 without babies...

After my wife's older sister got knocked up at 17, my fatherinlaw put my wife on them when she turned 17. She didn't need them but she was glad she had them. The sister never really recovered from it and it was the begining of a downhill slide.

You've done the right thing.

Pragmatically I am fine with it. Sure does put things into perspective though. One topic/image I really do not want to dwell on.

On one hand I am glad that she is having a sex life - I hope it is a healthy and happy one. Sex is great.

On the other hand, I know how guys think and the thought of some guy / any guy with my Daughter makes my skin crawl.

I suppose that over time, the creepy crawlies will subcide.

It's a joke man, sheesh!

She's over 18 anyway - her problem, not Lube's.

Be nice, put in some anal lube and a decent vibrator. Then you might not have to worry about her getting pregnant.

This is the only thing I think you have a problem with:

Hey Lube, it could have been worse. It could have been a prescription to Valtrex.
